your filter is supposed to be at the front end so the air spends the correct time inside the filter
so it is filtered correctly , if you put the filter at the end, all the smell is being pulled through the fan and ducting
before it hits the filter, normally people only do it this way so they can put the filter outside the tent to save space inside the tent
FUCK.. I meant the fan not the filter. I get general rule of thumb is to pull not push, that being with ANYTHING. Physics. But im trying to see it here. I just think the fan works harder and the filter doesnt produce as much proper suction if the fan is at the end rather then at the front directly connected to the filter. Its essentially all working the same regardless, with the physics rule of thumb to always pull really would just be more efficient which I get is what you guys are trying to say... its hard for me to see.. you guys are obviously more knowledgeable about it so I will drop it haha.. Im arguing i guess because im a visual person.. so i need to see like a calculated test done where it shows that my whole setup is working more optimum one way versus the other. Like where my exhaust is actually running more cfm one way versus the other.. or that the cfm is shown to be the same just that my fan is not working as hard one way, etc etc.

if you directly connect the fan to the filter with no ducting it will reduce the resistance a little bit
but not much as these types of fans are designed to pull air through ducting under pressure
the filter will reduce the amount of air moved as its also resistance, you allow for this when choosing your fan

Haha essentially this was just easier for me.. but now that its CLEARLY bin stated haha, if i did ever resort back to doing it this way I will use the fan at the end. But again, I would love to see the calculated reasoning. I will stick to my 2 fan plan to keep the light cooled as much as possible.

So I have a 4" duct fan that I got to cool my light but im starting to think that was a dumb move and should have got a 6". I was thinking of putting 2 6" duct fans on each side of the cooltube now bringing in fresh cold air. Or 2 4" considering I already have one now lol... its hard for me to say. I will set it all up today and see what the temps are with just the one 4". It all depends on the temps outside really I guess. Also the cooltube is 6" and the more air flow the cooler so I may as well just grab 2 6". I will have them connected to the same timer as the light.

Heres what I will be doing today as far as feeding.. If Im over doing it lemme know haha.

4th week of clones, 2nd week of flower (October 27th)

Full Dosage
-Sensi Bloom (A) 2-4-0
-Sensi Bloom (B) 2-4-8
-Mother Earth Bloom 3-2.3-5 @ 1/3rd of the dosage
-Big Bud 0-1-3
-Bud Candy 0.5% magnesium
-Voodoo Juice
-Grotek Pro-Silicate 0-0-3
-Grozyme
-Liquid Karma 0.1-0.1-0.5

fans need to run all the time.....
The fan and the filter need to run all the time yes. I am running seperate ducting for my cooltube with fresh cold air intake from my window. So if the light is off, the fans dont need to be cooling anything.

I agree with you...I would use the cold outside air to cool my space if anything and just pull my air for my cooltube from outside the grow space but inside the house...

I wouldnt of had my intake fan on my light blowing 24 hours cuz when its off it will become rediculously cold, then when it turns out it might pop. Not sure how gradual the heat is when it turns on. Yes that is a good point if they dont turn on for whatever reason

I'm still waiting for some well informed information to be posted about cold air being vented through sealed hoods in the thread I posted a link too. But if the information I've dug up so far is correct, you should be able to safely intake air directly from outside, if you have a filter to catch debris / excess moisture (Think if a storm blew it directly into your intake).

Thats what I was most concerned about was the excess moisture. I felt discouraged so I figured it was less risk trying to cool the space instead of the light. I dont know what to do now lol. I literally just set everything up and its too hot. Should have known better to think that 4" 100cfm duct fan was going to do anything. I assumed because its getting pretty cold thats all it would need. So regardless Im going to need some better air movement. I thought about getting another 200cfm inline fan and using my fan speed adjuster to turn it down a little so it still creates negative pressure.

Or I could use it with just cooling the light but again im concerned about moisture when it rains or snows.

you sure are a no bullshit straight shooter lol. Bravo

i use a 6 inch vortex to air cool three 600 watters and another 6 inch vortex cooling three 1000 watters. both go carbon filter>duct silencer>fan>duct silencer>reflectors>out the room and into the wild blue yonder. fresh air is passively pulled through large vents in the wall.
