Thats what I was most concerned about was the excess moisture. I felt discouraged so I figured it was less risk trying to cool the space instead of the light. I dont know what to do now lol. I literally just set everything up and its too hot. Should have known better to think that 4" 100cfm duct fan was going to do anything. I assumed because its getting pretty cold thats all it would need. So regardless Im going to need some better air movement. I thought about getting another 200cfm inline fan and using my fan speed adjuster to turn it down a little so it still creates negative pressure.

Or I could use it with just cooling the light but again im concerned about moisture when it rains or snows.
Someone finally dropped some useful knowledge on the pros and cons of cooling bulbs in an enclosed fixture with really cold air. Go check out the other thread I linked and read up. Interesting stuff to be honest.

Haha, I have a 600 in a 2'x3'x5' and am using a 4" 190cfm fan/filter! It all made sense when I was running the 400.. now that ive got this 600 I've got some work on my hands. I have considered buying a 440cfm 6" fan/filter and then using the original 4" 190cfm fan for cold intake.

Hey MD914 check out Myles117's post :fire:

If we did what you and doc say "filter/cooltube/ THEN fan" what results will we see specifically?

Right now Im just going to grab a 240cfm 6" duct fan to replace the 4" 100cfm duct fan for cold intake from my window and see how that goes. Cheapest route, told amazon it was damaged along with the 400watt MH bulb I order that actually was broken. Got a refund, now I've reordered: The bulb, 6" duct fan, and a window fan with 2 fans in it. I will use the window fan to help exhaust the hot air and help make my apartment window not look so suspicious.

Right now I have it hooked up filter>fan>cooltube>>>exhausting out. Then the 4" duct fan at my window connected to ducting that runs down to my free flow vent at the bottom of my tent bringing in fresh cold air. I have to keep the light about 18 inches away from the canopy to maintain 30 degreesish.

The expensive route is buying a 6" fan/filter combo and using the original 4" for intake, can't say I feel like spending another $200 right now so. We will see how this works. Id love to directly cool my light with fresh air but Id like to hear from someone that does this already before I go rearranging everything and damaging some stuff.

to be clear, i always PUSH through my reflectors because this way any leaks will result in scrubbed air sneaking back into the room as opposed to stinky air being pull out of the room through the leaks. :)

well having it filter to cooltubes to fan still results in scrubbed air if there were leaks throughout the venting

Specifically what am I checking out in Myles post? :???: The way he sets his filter/fan/reflector? He's not in a small tent either :) And he seems like such a nice young man ;)

Ok...so your going to use a 240 CFM fan for intake? How big is your exhaust fan again?

how do you figure? anywhere "behind" the fan has negative pressure while anywhere "in front" of the fan has positive pressure. Negative results in unscrubbed air being pulled in through leaks and positive would result in the scrubbed air leaking back into the room harmlessly. Cooltubes are much more simplistic than large reflectors with hinges and joints. I'm probably much more prone to leaks than if running cooltubes :)

Did that clarify what I was saying? I am not worried about leaks in the actual ducting.... I use very heavy duty stuff for just this reason. The only problem spots are connections and the reflectors themselves.

if you have your filter at the front, everything is going through the filter first, therefore any leaks you have wont matter because it is scrubbed.

everything except the air leaking through my reflectors and mixing with the scrubbed air on the way to the fan :)

lol ok, less you explain it better I dont care anymore. And MD914 you have said nothing beneficial. You can get a life at anytime

Myles117.. you said you have it filter/fan/cooltube. I do not see where a leak will cause you any issue, the leaks will simply be blowing scrubbed air back into the grow space. The only leak you would have is if there was one between the filter and fan. If it were Filter/cooltube/fan then yes leaks will cause you to exhaust unscrubbed air.

MD914 you never came factual reasoning behind why it is better to do filter/cooltube/fan. Nore have you explained why it is acceptable that Myles117 DOES do filter/FAN/cooltube. You have simply just laughed in the background at me trying to figure things out. If you are right, then fucking explain why.. jesus

If you read up on positive and negative pressure then it will be clear I haven't just been BSing you the whole time.

Im out of here lol

Again..."@" before a username is a tag, draws attention...watch this @Myles117

I tried, you simply want to argue. Your more worried about intake when exhaust is your issue
Myles117 is not growing in a small tent so he doesn't have the heat issues that you face...
