Fridge Grow/Clone Box (with a twist)

Went and visited my local Hydroponics store, a mile away.

Got some grow stone and some small rock wool cubes and my baskets.

I also picked up a submersible pump and all the hoses and bits to make the drip system.

Didn't get enough spagetti tubing tho.

Probably not my last trip there…

I cleaned up the cuts made to remove/lower the floor and applied aluminum duct tape I had all the way around.

The floor is thin and a little flimsy now so I screwed a piece of square aluminum tube under for support.

I installed the drain in my large tray.

I painted my reservoir and lid black on the outside.

I will probably start germination today choosing 4 from these.

3 AK-47, 3AMnesia Haze, and one seed (the big one in the right bag) that I found recently in a bud I called "Stanky Dank".

That stuff was SO stank that it would permeate a couple rooms by just opening the glass jar !

Will have to watch that one closely, hoping for a female.?20140824_090751_resized.jpg

Well, the seeds are in their new home for a while.
I opened up the hole in the wool a little and carefully set the seed with taproot down and gently pulled and fluffed the wool to touch the root and cover them ever so slightly.20140826_205029_resized.jpg 20140826_213431_resized.jpg

20140827_183729_resized.jpg Domes are off 3 of them.
1 is straggling behind a tad.

I know I coulda used a power strip, but those things sometimes suck and trip unexpectedly.
So I wired up a double 4-way box(es)

This thing blows pretty darn good and is quiet too.
It has a neat feature, you loosen 2 built in clamps and the motor assy. slides right out of your way.
Then you mount the frame and hook up your ductwork on each side. Slide the motor back in and position any way you want (you can keep the switch box strait up and down or rotate it to the rear as I have or any position in between.
And re-clamp the big clamps ant that's it.
The level over the top indicates that it still will fit under a top to be installed later.

I foil taped the inside and outside of the 6" elbows.
Still need to get 2 6" hose clamps for directly onto the fan housing20140828_163625_resized.jpg 20140828_163714_resized.jpg 20140828_164719_resized.jpg 20140828_172754_resized.jpg 20140828_164813_resized.jpg

OK, so that portion is done, now if I can find my stinking hole saws, I can get the inlet holed drilled.
I am in FL and it gets kinda warm here.
I am not opposed to hooking up to a little mini-fridge for cooling if I need it, but I was thinking, on a hot day, where would the dogs want to lay, IF they could get there?
UNDER the shed, in the cool dirt… right?
So I am gonna try this.
I am gonna open 2 4" holes (mayne 3) and run dryer ducting to holes I drill in the floor drawing in air from under the shed.

What do you all think about this idea ???20140827_191805_resized.jpg 20140827_191859_resized.jpg

On the inside I am using the dryer vent piece that would go on the outside of your house.
When the fan is on, the louvres should open and then close when the fan is off.
One in the bottom right of the Veg area and 1 coming in right behind the nutrient res.

Went & got some PVC pipe and some screws (yes stainless) and laid out my scrog screen at 2" spacing, then strung it with garden twist tie.
You can buy this huge spool of continuous green plastic twist tie material.
I had this left over from last 2 seasons of tying my tomato plants up.20140829_164654_resized.jpg 20140829_164723_resized.jpg 20140829_164803_resized.jpg

Totally sick design!
Really digging this fridges design.
Inspiring!

Question is - about removing freon (that liquid gas in fridges)
Was it easy?
In fridges it isn't ussualy more than 20ml, but anyways - how was it?
