Finally found the right 1/2" hose to use with the pump.

I used the little barbed plastic connectors ant T's.

Put a plug in the end and zip tied it solidly on the right handle..

Loosly zip tied to the left handle.

That's all for tonite.20140829_193823_resized.jpg20140829_193850_resized.jpg 20140829_193834_resized.jpg 20140829_194113_resized.jpg 20140829_194937_resized.jpg

Totally sick design!
Really digging this fridges design.
Inspiring!

Question is - about removing freon (that liquid gas in fridges)
Was it easy?
In fridges it isn't ussualy more than 20ml, but anyways - how was it?
After searching craigslist for a while for a free one, I went to a used appliance dealer.
He had this one in the back lot for parts.
It was already empty of freon.
Nice and clean tho !

View attachment 3250037 Hello everyone.
I have been lurking here a while and just getting started on my first REAL grow.
I started this thread on another site but decided to move it here, seems like a lot of good friendly people here.
So… here goes, hope you all enjoy.

I wanted to find a non working fridge with the freezer on the bottom, but I couldn't find any so I picked this one up from a dealer for $20.
I fucken love this guy.

I cut a 4" hole in the veg cab, bottom right and another in back of the nutrient res.
Then I mounted the louvered covers on the inside.
As luck would have it, there was a piece of heavy copper tubing right in thee way… no biggie !20140901_155215_resized.jpg 20140901_162301_resized.jpg 20140901_170546_resized.jpg 20140901_172302_resized.jpg

I got the flanges mounted on the back of the cabinet.
I need 2 more of those flanges to mount to the shed floor

I opened up a 4" hole to allow the air to flow from the bottom and up through the scrog screen, up past the light and out.

I just picked up the General Hydroponics 3 part base nutes, FloraGro, FloraMicro and FloraBloom and will be supplementing with Humbolt's Secret-Golden Tree instead of CannaBoost.
It's ON now !

My wife asked if I am having fun doing all this prep work.
I told her I actually LOVE it!
I like to build things and this is for a great cause ;-) AND I really enjoy sharing the build for some out there that might be looking to do something similar and can get all or most of what they need to know in one place.
When I was looking to do this, I didn't come across a lot of detailed builds. If this helps even one person, then it was worth my time & energy doing it !

Got my 4 drip rings made this evening.
Still need to trim the spaghetti tube coming off the main 1/2" tube to center the rings.
I am pretty sure this is where the pots will sit.
Trial run soon.

I put some foil over the cups.
Looked under the lid into the res and it is DARK where the plants are.
The extra hole plugs/spacers actually let a little light into the res, I'll have to paint them black.
You might be wondering why the plants are all grouped on one side?
It's because one of my brand new grow bulbs took a crap so I put one of the old style back in that I had left from before.
The 2 plants I had on that side were desperately stretching to get to the new bulb, so I moved them.
JUST got a tracking # for the bulb.
Hope it gets here soon so I can get them moved back before the roots get too big to disturb.20140904_080527_resized.jpg

I rinsed the GrowStone in a little blue kids wading pool.
Rinsed it over & over again till I got almost all the silt and sediment flushed out.
I filled the baskets with stone and then set them on a layer of stone to allow roots to grow out the bottom.
There will probably always be a little nutrient laying in the tray under the rock layer as the drain has a small lip before the water can run back to the res.
I will have to play with the number of feedings and the duration of each.
Next is to PH a couple gallons of water and flush all the high PH tap water out of the stone

This will be the height of my scrog screen, 6.5" from the medium.
After some topping and LST as described in a great article over at growweedeasy.com, I should be able to fill up a good field of colas.20140906_141534_resized.jpg 20140906_141628_resized.jpg

I have read pros & cons of both a sterile res or one with beneficial bacteria.
Not decided yet…
My res temps might go up in the summer and I think I understand that benes will help keep the roots better ???
Anybody else have any experience?
