Haha thank you kindly sir! I find certain times of day really make the flowers pop, always nice when the camera catches them with the same dazzle as I see them with through my own rose tinted glassesYour bud-porn is delicious Ace ! Those sativas are coming along, they are right about on par with my slowest-flowering Kali Mist plants. Your Indicas look super-nice too, but still ahead of my Lemon Kushes. Great Job bro
Very nice training on those girls! I love those thin super serrated leaves. Can't wait to see how our girls are lookin in a couple months, I wonder if they gonna foxtail at all, I'm kinda hoping they are, excited to see it happen in person since some of the best smoke I ever had was long foxtailed sativas.
It's the best, it's so fun that it feels like you're wasting time, but come harvest it really starts to feel like it was worth every second and then some. I mean, I've grown fruits and veggies for years, and harvesting them is a pleasant and rewarding experience (My lady is especially partial to our plum tree and the bounty it produces) but nothing close to the reward of harvesting this. Then again, I've never walked into a grocery store and spent $300 on one week's worth of fruit, I imagine if I did you would see far fewer plums lying around the base of my tree hahaha. As to the other thing, I would vote for Kief too, I love hand rubbing it into little faux nepalese temple balls. Plus she can always run extraction on the sifted stuff, you could pull a ton of oil from what doesn't fall through the sifter, That's what I usually do (Knew growers for a long time before I started myself and always had access to free trim, so I got good at turning dogshit into gold haha)Awesome Ace, we're still deciding how we're gonna process our trim... I wanna sift for keif, but the lady wants oil and medibles. She obviously never smoked any bubble-hash before . Anywho, we're definitely going to make some medibles AND keif. Ahhh... Isn't it a rewarding hobby
I would actually go with a 90 or 120 micron screen, probably get you the closest to full melt. But really you'd be fine with about anything, micron size is (in my opinion) much more important when you are using multiple bags than when you are just using one screen, personally I have a big 8" grinder with a (I believe) 120 micron screen at the bottom, works perfect for breaking down trim into cookable/extractable shake, and for every ounce of trim I run through it I get anywhere from .6-1.2 grams of kief that is perfect for hand rubbing, and leaves enough in the shake to make potent medibles. Speaking of dry ice, I am gonna try a dry ice cure as soon as I have some harvestables, I have heard such goods things about it and the science behind it seems sound, would be great to have a way to dry and cure bud with zero possibility of mold too.Very informative reply bro. You know your stuff, seems like to me. Hey, if I had to go with only 1 micron size for a screen, which do you think I should use? 160? 190? - Not really sure on this one. I want to use the single bag "dry-ice" method i saw on youtube. It saves me from having to dry the kief at the end, and just seems easier & faster than dealing with all those ice cubes. We're about 30 days away from harvesting those Lemon Kushes- can't wait !!
Thanks for the info I will probably get one of the sizes you mentioned - Gonna research it and find more on the subject. So an oz. of trim provided that much kief - not bad at all Personally, I Love refined/super-potent cannabis products, therefore we are going to use 1/2 of our entire harvest to make some fine quality Hashish -CheersI would actually go with a 90 or 120 micron screen, probably get you the closest to full melt. So, in theory, if you were to put bud in a non-airtight container on top of the dry ice, and throw that in the freezer, the dry ice would sublimate and in doing so it would pull all the moisture out of the environment around it. If your fresh bud is in it's environment, that means it removes the moisture while preserving the bud in a totally fresh state, and hence less degraded thc, plus its so cold you won't be getting mold. I like science so when I can mix science and weed I do so at every opportunity. Can't speak to how well it works because I haven't tested it myself yet, so right now it's just a theory that makes sense hahaThanks for the info I will probably get one of the sizes you mentioned - Gonna research it and find more on the subject. PS- What's this about a dry ice cure?
Yeah, sounds like a plausible theory - I will be putting my dried/cured nugs in the freezer for an hour (or 3) to make sure the buds are "frozen brittle" right before they go into my sharpstone grinder/ kief catcher. I am going to try this method because when I grind our homegrown sugary nuggets (of joy) there is never Any Kief in the bottom of the grinder even though the bud is dry & full of trichomes). Does anyone else have this problem with their homegrown nuggetry? The grinder /kief catcher work Just Fine with compressed "mids" - which are always bricked and very dry, so I'm guessing my bud was just too fresh to "go kiefin'' - Anyone>?So, in theory, if you were to put bud in a non-airtight container on top of the dry ice, and throw that in the freezer, the dry ice would sublimate and in doing so it would pull all the moisture out of the environment around it. This is basically the same process you would use to freeze dry ANYTHING, so if you've ever eaten astronaut ice cream or camping meals they done similarly.
