the 10/10 theory

...okay, if you were to put plants on 10/10 for flowering to trick them into a 20 hour day...then every 6 days you would gain 1 day due to the extra 4 hours...so a 60 day flower can be done in 50 days??...

......or .....:dunce:????

No, flowering will take longer. You're effectively slowing down the flowering time by reducing daylight hours. I believe subcool does a 10/14 for higher potency, but plants take 2 weeks longer to finish.

Im thinking yield would suffer. Because, backing out and looking at the whole idea, you are giving your plant less light. As we know, more light = more yield. Thoughts?

Honestly the biggest issue i see with this is getting a timer that runs in 20 hour cycles, other than that def worth a try, have also heard of 12/6 where they only get 6 hours of dark a day, then full light to bloom under, cutting length in the night. Have never tried either, like a said finding a timer to do this is gonna be the hard part.

I don't think the yeild would suffer to much...I think as long as the 10 hrs are full spectrum, good quality lights.

...the only thing for now is to plug and unplug by hand , the old fashion way...with some kind of chart to log the time each day...or just move the little pegs on the timer every morning...lol...which is still manually!

ahhh...I let that one slip by me...lol
one of those should only set me back about $80...I think they have 7 days...probable 30 days programable...
if this sounds like it might work...I'm going to start on a small flower room...I think I can be set-up by Jan.1st...idk...or maybe I should get a few more indoor grows under my belt before I start experimenting with shit...lol

okay, here we go...I really didn't think anyone would go for this, but since you all seem to be intrested then lets do it!...it will take me a few weeks to get things set-up...I grow in hydro so what I will do is make this a DWC grow, in 5 gal. buckets, under a 400w HID. I should get one of those new HPS bulbs with the higher blue spectrum...I've only seen them in1000w so far, at $220 a pop, expensive basterds!... my 1000w hoods are being used, but that would be the way to go huh...oh well
so it will take me a few weeks to set-up...I'll take cuttings from my Violator Kush mother, I'm familiar with this strain, and if I can time things right then I'll have VK going into a 12/12 flower at the same time...that will get the 10/10 and 12/12 rooms started on the same day...to make this a more controlled grow I guess...lol...except the 12/12 will be 1000w.
...I'm shootin for a Dec. 17th start date...I'll post here before I start a journal...and I'm open to any and all suggestions...did I forget anything?

Hortilux Super Eye is what you're after. I got mine for $75 at my hydro store (for my 400w HPS) but I was told they can be found for $40-50.

I use that bulb too, for both 400 and 1000...it's the Hortilux High Performance,Enhanced Spectrum, Super HPS....but they have a new one out...it is HPS with much more BLUE than the ones we're using...if you look at the graph on the back of the box you will see the blue is under 30% relative energy...the new one is slightly above 50%...but it is $220 instead of $120 for the 1000w...at my grow shop...I haven't priced on-line yet

so whats my goal here...to harvest a 9 wk plant in 7 1/2 wks...I guess it's worth the try...lol...whats the worst thing that could happen
