Like the title says PLEASE READ,Medical patient who suffers intense chronic pain 24/7 needs help.

This is a long post (as usual with me) but it is important,please take the time needed to read the entire post & possibly offer your expertise.

Ive been conversing with a med patient in Portugal who suffers intensly with his pain levels,this person wants very much to be able to grow his own supply but has some issues that i have no need to go into on open forum,for ease of explaination & for personal reasons i'll just say that money to buy grow equipment is not an option for this member.

Please keep in mind that im not talking about regular pain that most people live with,or trouble sleping, or some kinda regular back pain type issues,were talking about maximum pain levels 24 hours a day,my wife experinces this type pain so ive seen what it can do to a person,its a condition where no human being should have to suffer through with no relief & if we can help lets please help asap.

Im not comming right out & asking for money as i dont think that would be appropriate of me,nor am i sure the forum rules even allow soliciting of that nature,what i am asking the membership here for is help in other ways.

I have alot of grow equipment that i have no real need for that just sits in storage collecting dust,ive decided to donate all the grow equipment needed for a good grow op to this member & ship it to his location but we've reached am impass that puts us at a stand still.

My grow equipment is all 110 volt US & this member lives in Portugal where the electrical service is 200 volts.The gear i have that i can donate is all HTG gear but im not sure if its multi tap or not,im also aware of step up/down transformers but i am unsure if they will work safely due to the ignightor in an HPS system & how the power fluctuates at start up.

Here are my questions.

1 Would a HPS system be ok to run off a step up transformer ?

2 Would a Metal halide system be a better match to use with a step up transformer due to it not having an ignition system in the ballast ?

3 Can my ballasts be switched internally to operate on 200 volt service safely ?

4 Is any member here qualified to effect the voltage switch ? if so would you be willing to allow me to ship the ballast to you to effect the switch then foward the system to the member in need,or back to me so i can ship it to him ?

5 Does any member own a step up transformer that they are positive will operate a 110 volt ballast safely at 200 volts,if so would you be willing to sell it to me or donate it to this member,or give me the details like manufacturer & model number so i can order the correct transformer ?

6 Are there any members who live in Portugal or a location that uses a 200 volt system who can offer any guidance or help in any way ?

7 And very last,i have not been able to find a 200 volt HID system from any of the budget type manufacturers,is anybody aware of where i could score a brand new ready made 200 volt HID system that is plug & play ready ?

For any moderators reading this.

Are any of you mod's aware if rollies online hydro shop offers a 200 volt HID system or any other light that can be ran plug & play in 200 volts,can any mod address this with rollie while he is in chat,pm him for an answer or address this in the moderator forums with him,i'd rather buy a light from rollitup for this situation than any other seller because of the nature of the persons needs,im not asking rollie for a free light as that would be rude, maybe through his contacts he can hook this member up with what he needs & i can reimburse him.

Im only interested in systems that are 400 watts & larger but in the worst case scenario that these are not avaliable for 200 volt applications im willing to use any other wattage system from 100 to 1,000 watts.

I understand that in this sinking economy that money is very tight for alot of people,sign of the times, i would not want money to stand in the way of any member offering help,i have a business account with UPS so i can eat any shipping costs incurred,as well as paying any member who cant afford to donate the time to switch some ballasts to the proper voltage, or if needed i can reimburse any member who has a 200 volt ballast system & cant afford to donate the system.

Any help you guys can give would be a great help.

after a long talk, i was able to get some useful information about the person we are trying to help, and here are something that might help you:

this guy smokes really low amounts of cannabis. he does it so he can work. simply putting things up, if he doesnt have marijuana he cant work, unless he has to deal with mental pain. he is being followed by therapeuts, and it is known to his doctor in detail how much and why he smokes. he doesnt, and i underline this, HE DOESNT WANT TO SELL WEED. the things he gets with his budget are low quality, even pointed by his doctor. it was found that, after analizing his stash, that were found heroine, cocaine, and other harmfull toxic substances that could endanger him even more. the auto-consumption is legal in his country, and he is trying to get a medical licence for the amounts he needs to grow. he also underlined, so you didnt need to overdo yourselves, that he only needs basic equipment. we are talking about someone who whants to grow a plant or two, small ones, and in the biggest scenario, three. we are talking about one to three small little plants, bonsai size. we are not talking about even regular grow-rooms, this is intended to be a really small grow room.
i have direct contact with the person we are talking about, so please, if you have any question you want to ask him, ask me and he'll answer right away.

i think this thread should be to help everyone that need help, not just him, cause there are more people needing help than just one person. i hope that after helping him, we can help more people. i can ensure that if he gets material he doesnt need, he will imedeatly donate it to someone who needs

I can't be sure if this applies to this situation, but did finally find some transformers/ballasts and Hps in the U.K.

Only wanting a tiny grow, if all else fails, why not fluro? At least replacements can be found locally.

what do you mean by floro?
sorry, you know i'm kinda new to this

florescent grow. it's cheap and can be done from veg to bud you just need to change your light spectrum.

Widely available fluorescent lamps, adequate for a small grow. Kept myself in stash a lifetime w/same.
Just now on my 3-4 HPS grow . . . certainly makes for bigger harvests earlier and easier. Fact is, the fluros work.
I used 4' tubes (T-12's) . . . others use cfl's, which I consider too messy.

The postage costs and equipment voltage conversion costs would just outweigh the whole thing.
I paid 60 quid for my entire setup in the UK about 100 dollars.
Sorry to say this panhead but i think youll find that your being taken for a fool by a con artist or a kid.

I would advise you to provide him with nothing and break all contact and if you feel that i am wrong just send him a 100 dollars.
I grow a pound every 3 months with my 400 watt lamp and baskets which is sufficient for my pain and for most peoples.
Any adult can buy their own equipment cheaply and easily anywhere in the world and if he cannot afford to buy the gear there is no way he can afford to run it

i'll answer to you and to everyone, to proove you are wrong.
my friend is 18, he quited school cause of his disease, and he is stuck in is house. he cant come out unless he is to deal with more mental pain, so he can't work to earn money to pay for his gear. all his money goes to buy low quality hash, so he can't save money. his parents are having financial problems to pay his therapy, so they can't give him more money they already give. he gets 40 euros every month, you see, and it goes all to hash.

i only wont be offensive to you cause those people actualy exist. it was because of those kind of people my friend ended up like he is. i just talked to him and he said he wants do do everything he can to minimize the costs to you all, so he will pay you back how much you payed to send the stuff.
and that pound you get every month makes me laugh. 40 euros of low quality hash is all he needs every month. we are talking about a small minimal grow room, not your fancy 400w wathever for your poud. not everyone is able to work and earn money

i just pm panhead and gave him the proof of everything. i'm sure he will be able to prove you i'm saying the truth.
youwere right in one thing, though: we shouldnt hide from our friends, so, i uncovered tthe mantle of secrecy this site has and showed him who i am.

Jesus all this guy needs is a handfull of cfl's and a grow th size of an average upper kitchen cabinet. More than that would be insane given shipping costs and his meager needs.

I'm sure they have cfl's where he lives. And I'm sure they have cabinets and white paint and cheap fans. All this guy needs is practically nothing at all. You can clone without rooting compound, you can grow with a handfull of cfl's with no thermometer, no ph kit just natural water, no fancy nutes organics, no bug sprays needed even just have him make his own from tobacco.

Hell he doesn't even need a pot to plant in.

$20-30 US and some seeds would do the job. I'm sure someone can help him find the rest he needs for free.
