there are some filters called zero water that removes everything from the water and shows zero on TDS meter.

will it also lower ph of water like ro filter?

if not, anyone recommend a fairly inexpensive ro filter? $150-200 would be my max, but anything for around $100 would be even better.

thanks for suggestions.

I have some experience with filter and to my knowledge unless its spring water or RO system I doubt it will read 0 TDS hell RO doesnt even read normally reads 10 on the meter. Unless these filters are are seperating the good from the bad and sending the bad down a drain then I doubt it will remove everything from the water, but I've never heard o fit. RO system can be expensive, I would suggest just using a dual filter system unless you are on a well if you are using city water the dual filters will do you just fine ..hope that help

RO filters aren't that expensive. i seen some today at home depot for about $200 with the tank made by GE, they also had another GE for about $250.

i assume i can get something better online for around the same price.. no?

well i use to install RO systems i have two actually that i dont even use for one there are a few good things in tap water such as minerals that RO takes out and the it sends about 70 percent of the water down the drain. but dont get it twisted a RO system is the best system to have next to a spring in your back yard. So if 200 isnt expensive to you go for it dont foget the filter they are like 50 bucks and you have to replace the membrane and post filter every 2 years thats about 100bucks
