Your thoughts for cutting time?

Hello,

I guess you get asked this question alot. But l need some advice. A week ago l had mostly clear tricomes. Today, l checked again and the buds in the middle of the plant have alot of Amber. The bigger buds have like 5-10% max. According to my schedule l should.d have another week or two. I didn't flush. Notes were fed yesterday. What is your opinion? Should l cut it now or wait, flush tomorrow, wait another 3 4 days and after that, 24 hours of darkness before cutting?
I am looking for a more energetic high

They're not ready. The calyxes aren't swollen and plenty of new hairs being thrown out. 2 weeks will be premature still. Probably more like 4 weeks, maybe more. I can't speak towards flushing because I gave up on that a long time ago. Don't worry about the darkness either, imo it makes no difference. The type of high experienced will be dictated by strain and pheno more than if you cut premature, which is a bad idea.

So about 2 weeks have passed. The hairs(pistils) seem to be mostly brown. Should these retreat more? The buds seem to have swollen up. The tricomes didn't turn Amber. Just the ones from 2 weeks ago. I flushed 3 days ago. Should l wait for some more amber trics? Should l feed it a bit and wait a bit more?
Thank you

They're getting there but not ready yet. In my experience when plants look like that they'll throw new pistils and swell again before they start to really ripen. I wouldn't starve them, so probably continue feeding.

I'm getting to the end of some White Widow Autos. One, the runt, is loosing all it's fan leaves, but it' still has not shown Amber Trich's.
I thought I'd have 129 days to run them and still finish in time for the Super Bowl to blast off at kickoff time! The buds are 1 1/2 inches in diamater and 8-12 Inches tall! The Bitchs are still taking full nutes and refuse to quit!

Hello again!
As an update, she started to smell. Fewer and fewer new pistils. The tricomes started to turn from clear to milky. Not to many amber except the ones from 2-3 weeks ago. I have no idea what made then turn to amber then. I should water her tomorrow if she is not ready.
What do you think? She needs more time?

Old saying is if you aren't sure add another week or two
Sometimes trichs can be altered by squeezing buds
Now you don't know anyone squeezing buds , do you? :bigjoint:

I decided to go for 36 hours of darkness and to cut afterwards. Amber started to form on the tips of the buds
Good job practicing patience. I wouldn't personally worry about dark but it's your grow and your call. You can chop probably whenever you're ready. I might water and wait a little and watch but you're probably ok with whatever you choose.

I chose to leave it in the dark because, from what l understand, it helps to produce some more. The darkness is important in flowering. Try to find out what happens during the dark period with the plants

Thank you for your help. Now the drying/curing part... l will leave the buds at around 20C and 45% humidity for 7 to 10 days and then place them into jars. I hope it is ok

If you want it to produce more, try 36 hours of light, Dr. Bugbee was talking about this recently...but it's your plant, do as you wish.

I would suggest getting your humidity up a little more to 60% or so and trying to get your temps a little lower too for drying. You wanna try and get closer to that 10 day dry or more....7 can be pretty fast.

There’s so much bud underneath the canopy not getting light, not gonna end up with much grade A type :-/

Your grow is a mirror image of mine. My 3 autos sprouted on Oct 13 and are still at it. Actually I just chopped one but the other two refuse to quit. I think I’ve stressed them in a number of ways which contributed to the details.
One plant has white pistils that have been there for 5-6 weeks….won’t turn and won’t recede…not many but still enough for me to notice.
They’re finally not producing any new growth and look to be real close to ripe. Trichs are overwhelmingly cloudy with more ambers everyday and a few clears. It’s good to see I’m not only one with 20 weeks autos.
