Yet another LED thread

Summers on the way and I'm shopping LEDs. Efficiency and Heat control is my main concerns for this. I'm running a 400w HID now and I'm looking for an equal.
Setting budget max at $600. This will be for a 3x3 tent.

As of right now, I'm looking at the HLG 300L Rspec or the Timber Grow 4VS (don't see much about Timber when i search here)

I'm keeping this with respected companies, trying to steer clear of the vivo and mars etc, no offense, and I'm sure they are great, but i want tried and true, over price. If there are any other suggestions I'm open to hear it!

Hello @DirtyJerzey

I saw your post and wanted to offer my assistance. If you have any specific questions about our lights, or LEDs in general, please feel free to post them to this thread, send me a DM or email me direct at [email protected].

Thank you to all the folks showing support on this thread, I really appreciate it!!

Take care,
Dan
Thanks @RainDan! I'm really digging your guys lights. That being said, I'm torn. Still haven't decided if i want quantum or cob. If this is any help for you. Ill be putting this in a 3x3x72 AC Infinity Tent. I don't have that extra bit of head space that the larger tents typically come with. That would be probably my only con with the COB. But that's all me overthinking like i usually do. And that would just mean i have to train a little lower.

I have used both HLG QB's and the Timber COB's. I kept the HLG at 24" running at 80% juice. Any closer or any higher light intensity the leaves started "tacoing". With the VL's, 18" - 20" above, also running at 80% power. That extra 4" to 6" can make a difference when growing in the shorter tents.

The HLG produced magnificent flowers. The Timber produced magnificent-er flowers.

I hope that helps with your choice.

If heat is a concern, the option to move the driver outside of the tent is something to look for. I'm loving the Mars Hydro FC-3000 in a 3x3, the coverage is perfect.
If yours is the FC-3000 with Samsung diodes I can vouch for the FCE-3000 with the bridgelux diodes as that’s what I used to replace my 400w HID setup MH/HPS @DirtyJerzey

400w HID thread

First use of the FCE3000

I thought initially it was the FC3000 but I was corrected that it’s the FCE-3000.

Thanks for the input!
If I'm reading that correctly your saying i can go lower with the Timber Lights?

Ill keep that in mind! Ive been looking at the Mars' lights, but haven't been sold on it. I guess I'm thinking ill be getting what i pay for, and I've been down similar roads.

I edited and linked my previous threads of HID and then LED.

Little late to the party.

I run 4 Timber fixtures all in tents, all are 3500k COB's. As for heat, since I started using them I always stayed about 7-9 degrees warmer in the tent then room the tents are in, even in the middle of summer. I don't have central AC in my home, I have a AC unit in the grow room and when I had to use it, it was set around 76 degrees. So I don't have to use AC very much.

Since I redid somethings in my 5x5 with a Fatty VS I can actually keep the tent at room temp or even a little cooler. I can move alot of air in that tent.

Distance I guess can be a problem, I've had many plants go quit close to the lights but never really had a problem. Burnt some fans and a couple top buds but nothing to get in a twist about.

The fixtures are built to a high standard. I am a very picky person and have yet to find a flaw. When you see one in person you will quickly see they were constructed with great material and by people who take the time to do things right. Very clean. Not thrown together and shoved in a box.

They also carry a killer warranty that is backed my a good company. Dan is second to no one, he runs a tight ship and is down right a genuine guy. Buy with confidence!
