Yet another Aerogarden Grow - Take 1

Hello everybody.

I have been visiting this site for the past month now and reading through the AG related grow threads here I have gotten the necessary materials together to pull off my first ever Aerogarden grow.

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their contributions on this site. Being able to glean useful information like this is what makes these communities work so well and fun to participate in.

My setup:

I bought the Aerogarden Deluxe for the extra lights and height. I am using GH 3 part and have added an additional 3 CFL's. The entire grow area is covered in Mylar and I just added my air pump and air stone today. Yay!!

I bought three Afghani Kush Clones from the dispensary and have been growing them in the AG for one week now. They seem to be getting adjusted to their new home and they look like they are really going to start taking off.

I have attached a few pics of my operation and my babies at this time. Please feel free to make any comments or suggestions as I am completely new to this sort of thing and willing to listen to any feedback sent my way.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lookin good man, im hope'n to get some clones too, but i have alot of seeds, and i like planting them haha, keep us posted, im excited to see this go down, mad props man, startin out great

That's funny. I am waiting for some seed's and instead of waiting for the seeds I ran down and picked up the clones. hahaha I was never one for waiting.... I will be updating frequently so check back often.

UPDATE:

Two days since I last took pictures of the babies. They are taking off big time since adding that airstone.

I also picked up a digital ph tester. Have been FINALLY able to balance the ph at 5.8.

Also, I had a question for the AG pro's regarding how long I should keep the clones in veg mode before starting the flowering process?

Here are the pictures. :blsmoke:
Lookin great man, i would Veg em for at least 2 or 3 weeks, then flower away!

:weed:
Thanks for the response SICC! I am looking at adding a 250W HPS to it when I start to flower. I may move one of the plants to a DWC setup to allow more room for roots and growth.

I am seeing a lot of concerns about ROOT ROT. I am wondering if anyone had that problem while using clones? I was thinking that since the grow time was decreased due to it being a clone that maybe the roots would not be subjected to the prolonged exposuer to the AG tank water. Being the n00b I am on this thing I don't really know.

So what say you? Could there be a better chance of not getting root rot with a clone?

Hmmm......bongsmilie

I've never heard of people getting root rot because of the AG rez, the only way to get it most the time is if there is light leaking into the rez

Copy that - Thanks!

NO!!!! Hey everyone. One of my plants (the one I had most hope for btw) has an issue. Came home today and found this. The leaf is hard, curled and a lil yellow. They were getting pretty close to the main lights on the AG. I moved it higher but it looks to be getting worse since I got home and noticed it. I figure this ain't the first time this has happened. Any suggestions? Danke!

LOL!!!

Look at it this way, we pay the most taxes accross the board. Being able to go buy a clone at a pharmacy is one thng that makes up for being screwed by the gov....

:bigjoint:

Good Luck.. The waiting is the hardest part ...

The Aerogarden is a good tool to learn on ,, And also good for Vegging plants ..

With that said . I would use it to vegg your plants , But for flowering , I would get a HPS light to finish them .Cfl's will get you loose stringy buds .. ive tried it 4 or 5 different times .. Never great results ,, With an HPS you will flower just Fine

Keep Growing

The waiting SUX!! :wall: I can't wait to get home from work everyday to check on the babies. See how they are "doing" after basking in the lights all day... he he he

I am definately going to get myself an HPS korvette, I have seen the results and am convinced it is the way to go. I know the CFL's work great but I can see the upside to using the HPS's.

Since both myself and my significant other have our medical cards, we are allowed to posses 12 large plants before we are no longer compliant with the laws.

I am going to invest in a DWC for the next grow.

Happy growin!!:leaf:

:weed: JOURNAL UPDATE :weed:

Things seem to be moving right along. I taped up the AG to make sure no light was getting through. I noticed a bit of a brown coloring on my oldest roots when I changed the water the other day. From reading through most of these threads I have noticed that light penetration is the biggest cause of this problem. They did not have any smell and were still looking healthy so I hope that I can avoid any further issues with my roots.

Other than that they seem to be growing fine. ph is 5.8, 80 degrees in the grow area and the res is 75. Bumped up the nutes this week and am crossing my fingers they tolerate it well.

Thanks for stopping by! bongsmilie
