I am also growing with 2 27 watt daylight cfl's per plant. They are like 10 times that size. That poor thing has some major probs. I would say start over. I don't know if it is possible or worthwile to save that one.

That video looks like me every 4-7 days. Only I am much faster with my digital meter. I had to go back to the vial when I broke my first digi but I bought three more so that is no longer an issue. I like the vial with the drops much better than the strips but both work.

Sorry Garden Knowm, but I don't see much point in PH'ing your water when growing in a soil medium.

And if he does end up with a 80/20 Perlite Medium, the Perlite buffers the solution to around 7 anyway.

UNLESS your tap water is like 10 or 4 !!

I wish I knew who was right. My tap water is about 8.5. I ph it to around 6.6-6.7. I have read allot of stuff that stresses the importance of the proper ph in irrigation water. Lately I have seen a few people saying it is not needed. I guess I will keep doing it unless they all die.

i am 100% sure that I am NOT right...

what i do know is that I am a big baller... shot caller.. LOL

umm wait a minute..

4 corner stones of growing

1. pH
2. watering technique - for all types of grows, hydro, soil, aero etc
3. lighting
4. ventilation

pH is so easy... sure there is only a one in four chane that every time you bang a broad that you will get her pregnant... does that mean you don't wear condoms...

there is only a 1 in six chance you'll blow out your brains in russian roulletts...

yes, there is a chance that you'll win the lotto...

yes.. there are a small amount of people who have perfect water.. or perfect water MEDIUM mixture .. and they never have to worry about pH... yes yes yes.... yes there are bad asses that know how to flower plants with only 4 nodes and get 3 ounces before pH becomes an issue... LO

BUT - please recognize. that yo are playing with a lot.. you are playing with lots of otential $$$$$ and the risk of going to a bad bad place.. might as well.. make sure your i's are dotted and you t's are crossed....

This is as nice as I can be about pHing.... it only gets real condescending from here on out..

hey bro... ummmmmmmm.... yeah.... ok...

ummmm .. oh yeah... can you explain about the soil buffer thing... and mm.. how long will the soil buffer for? what if the plant is vegged for 6 weeks and is watered with 8.0? or ummm... what if the plant is re vegged... 3 times...

that's it for now...

maybe we should start a new thread about pH ing? I would love to learn how to grow without pH ing water...

cheers

Well this last watering I stepped it up to a half gallon per plant in 3 gallon pots. That was enough to give me some runoff and I ph'd it and it cam eout to 5.8. Yikes. I did feed this time with a mix of fish ferts and bloom ferts to get my desired ratio. It was also only a quarter cup of runoff at best. I know that is low for soil. I ph my water to 6.5 so I think with not all of the pot getting soaked since I was not giving allot of water made the ph in the bottom of the pot drop out. I am going to give more water this next time to get a little more of a flushing effect top help balance it out. If that don't do it I have other weapons in my arsenal. They are doing pretty good. They have been getting yellow tips on all new growth at the top of the plant for the past couple days. I will see if the ferts help. The tips just stay yellow and then turn brown but it is a very small part of the tip and it does not seem to be progressing any further than the tip. They are very close to going into flower now.WOOHOOObongsmilie

Ive never gotten that technical as to ph my water and stuff but i do always pass it from the tap to the cheap as chips carbon water filter i got before it goes on my plants, and if i didn't live where i do i would definitely check my water.

I live in a fairly hard water area but not anywhere near as hard as some people do and the further you get into a city the worse it usually gets,my mates water in London is yellowish from the tap and another mate in Norwich is also border line yellow,my water where i live is still fairly clear but hard with lime and minerals and as garden knowm has said in not so many or few words it really depends on where you live as to the quality of your tap water and whether or not this is something you can or cannot get away with,if your in any doubt buy bottled water.:blsmoke:
