yellow seedling root exposed

I am not sure what the deal is but, my buddy has a yellow seedling with the root exposed a little bit. Its like it sprouted prematurely. Should he just put more dirt over it and wait or leave it exposed

your buddy needs to first learn about growing normal plants in general, and maybe do a little research on his own. exposed roots die on almost all plants, so keep that in mind. Also, if you want a serious answer on here you really need atleast some detailed info. and a picture would be the most helpful thing. But just cover up the root with some dirt. if it's a seedling, that's not why it's turning yellow.

alright apparently he just planted the seed 2 days ago. he planted 2 seeds one sprouted fine and the other a yellow leaf popped out yesterday and it appears that a tail end of a root his hanging off it.
