This is my first indoor grow and everything has been going somewhat smoothly so far. I’m about 19 days into 12/12 and I’ve got a yellowing leaf problem around the bottom of one of my plants.

I’m growing in miracle grow potting soil (vegetable grower first time error), in 5 gallon fabric pots under a 900w led light. I’m feeding them bloom nutes with and to be just noticed the problem getting worse the past few days.

I’ve got some pics and hope I can answer any other questions to help diagnose. I don’t currently have a ph test yet, but am heading to the hydroponic store as we speak here.

Have been watering with distilled water and nutes every second watering.

I forgot to add. Overall she is looking a lighter green than her sister of the same strain. She is the tallest of the 2 and has grown very well.

When did you switch from veg feeds to bloom? It’s hard to see anything with blurple or HPS lights on.

The pictures aren't the best - but it looks like a magnesium deficiency. With you using distilled water, those micro-nutrients are not present. They are there in well, tap or spring water but not in distilled or R/O water.

LED's can cause calcium and magnesium deficiencies. Calcium/magnesium supplements like Botincare's Cal-Mag or General Hydroponics Cali-Magic can help. Start with 1 tsp/gallon.

Cal/Mag and CaliMagic are a bit pricier - so if you want to go more on the cheap (and since you are in flower mode), you can also dissolve 1 tbsp Epsom Salt and 1 tbsp black strap molasses to one gallon. You can give this on your "just water" days. They will add important micro-nutes such as calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium and sulphur. All are needed but stripped away when using distilled or R/O water.

I grabbed a good sized bag of plain Epsom Salt and a large tub of black strap at my local Bulk Barn for less than $5.00.

Hey guys thanks for the replies. Hotrod, I switched to bloom nutes at the start of week 2 of 12/12. I was at my veg height limit for my tent and read that giving bloom nutes might help Keep it from stretching too much.
Starecase, I was thinking that was a possibility by looking at pics of other magnesium issues and I have the Epsom salts on hand. Will be making a trip to bulk barn tomorrow and give that a go for my next feed.

I will report back as I see changes.

The was more yellowing before I fed than was previously there and now today I have taken note of all the affected leaves. It looks to be making its way up the plant but I won’t know if it’s slowing down till tomorrow morning or evening.

I tried to get some better pics.

I checked this morning before lights off and it didn’t seem to be worse. Both plants were the same hue of green for quite a while and this is the bigger one. Same strain and have been fed identically, although I did defoliate the affected plant more than the other before flowering. (science experiment)

I added veg nutes the day I noticed the problem thinking they needed more nitrogen. Should I add some veg nutes to the bloom nutes??

Could it have a greater appetite for nitrogen than the other smaller plant? As well as the magnesium deficiency from the distilled water?
