I put my new lamp cord together( came with no instructions ).
Then i plugged it in the wall, then instant BOOm. sparts everywhere and shit blew up (luckily lightbulb wasnt in it)
**The metal piece that plugs in the wall is damaged and is burnt. Im guessing its unusable.
What happened? Did i wire it in wrong? OR did LOWES give me a poo poo lamp?
HELP thx

Yeah obviously wired incorrectly. Read up on electrical wiring before u hurt urself or burn down ur house. Make sure none of wires are touching each other.

oops i forgot to post picts! there up! im guessign its not re-usable? its for a 60 watt cfl. I just wanted to have a working light :(
There was no instructions and i figured it goes where the 2 wholes are. where else could the 2 wires possbily go

Looks like a bottle lamp kit, I use the same ones and never had an issue. As the last poster stated the two screws are for attaching the cord.

Edit: looks like you built it wrong. See the attached pic. The two spots with arrows are supposed to be the parts that go together and the other end if for the light, then end you have something screwed into is where the wire attach to the screws. Second attached pic is of my setup, see how the switch on the socket is enclosed between the two pieces? Check out the link to the Lowes product page it shows the same thing, honestly man how'd you fuck that up? You probably shouldn't be messing with electrical if you screwed this up, sorry if that sounds fucked up but its the truth.

Take this as a lesson, electricity is dangerous, not just a "here i'll stick these 2 wires through these holes cause i think its right." Read up or ask on here when you are in question, none of us want you to burn your place to the ground.

yep lesson learned. u see the first? i put it in there. those 2 wholes. i dont get why they made those 2 hole if they didnt want me to use them lol. i wish it had instructions
@silver, i see ur link but its an uncomplete kit.
and @silver, if i put those 2 purple arrows together it wouldnt work. cause the right arrow u chose, is the part u screw the light in

That pic shows you how the "head" of the lamp kit is put together, that is all I was trying to show you.

barracks? what r u talking about barracks for?
Military jacket, shitty fabric blanket, the chair the floor, all looks like a barracks to me XD

lol you removed the pictures lol, don't worry your secret is safe with me!

I have to get another one anyhow so I'll pick it up this weekend and post a step by step with pictures on how it goes together.

lol put the joint down and look at the pictures again very carefully. The black on off switch on the brass part should be sandwiched in between the two parts with the arrows I drew on your picture. Do you get it? You had it back words.

The reason it blew is because you can't just basically attach two wires to a bulb like that! The current just left one wire and went straight back into the other one causing a short.

Dear Jesus man, can you not just buy a socket with a plug attached to it?! Why didn't your breaker trip or a fuse blow btw?
