Alright, i have been waiting very patiently for this day, but it has now arrived. I have a pretty good idea of how i would like to set this up but I would also like a couple suggestions or ideas from the RIU posse.

Details::mrgreen:

Room: 12x9 bedroom

Lights: (1) four foot, four bulb T5
(4) 600 watt hps
(2) Lumatek Dual 600 Ballast

System:(2) 4x8 trays flood and drain

Ventilation:(1) Can 66 w/ 6 in. high output fan combo, 6" in. vortex (452 cfm)

Any tips or suggestions on setup would be greatly appreciated. Also, the ducting for the ventilation is going to be rather long should i step it up to 8 in. fans?

Some pics of the equip. and sum of the babies for proof.:joint:

id consider an ac unit or a much bigger inline fan . in an upstairs bedroom especially . heats defenitly gonna be an issue. air cool them lights atleaSAT I WOULD . thats a small amount of light for those tables ppl say, but iam too curious on using 600w per 4x4 of space i use 1000w per 4x4 tab . id run that fan with filter and the aircool lights with another fan. use some cool tubes . the best cfm rating id go with to cool 4 600's would be 600cfm or more , thats my guess using tubes. hope this helps. just think of the middle of summer , i couldt even grow in an upstairs bedroom with out running ac 24/7, fak that

You might be fine with the 6". If your running air-cooled hoods then the rooms wont get that hot. Set it up first, less bends in the ducting = more efficient cooling. Dont go out and buy an expensive ass AC unit if you dont need too

Thanks for the quick replys! the room is downstairs and the house stays rather cool (new windows). I know it will heat up considerably during the summer so heat issue is on my radar. the lights will be aircooled. So u dont think 2 600's per 4x8 table is enough? interesting. Once again, thanks for the replys and I will keep updates as to which route i go. Anyone else have anything to say?

I'm suprised you don't have a tool in this thread yet calling you a liar and saying you made up having all those ballasts. :)

Anyway are you saying you have 4 individual 600w ballasts and 2 dual ballasts for a total of 8 600w lights? Even if it's only four that still good for two 4x8 tables. Plenty good, 3 per is even better.

No I just have two dual ballast for the 4 600 watt lights. As far as aircooling the lights, should i (1.)pull air through carbon scrubber then through lights and out of the room, (2.) or pull air from outside, through the lights, and back outside. Would the air on the 2nd option be stinky? For some reason im thinkin I need a bigger fan. Another question I have is pulling air from under the house? It is not on foundation but I worry about mold, bacteria etc. the air would be cooler right? I have been doing about 4 months of research but now that its here and in front of me its like im lost (damnit). +reps for all you guys with the patience to help me out!!!

have the carbon filter INSIDE the room and have the air get pulled through that, throught the lights, then out the room. That way your getting rid of the smell and cooling the lights at the same time.

thats what i was thinkn. lol.........I love the "have carbon filter INSIDE" That is one concept i have gotten (surprisingly)........

that fan aint enough in my opinion. id go 600+ 4 600's all that duct ect do your number 2 idea:mrgreen: the air wont be stinky just seal it up , and use your other fan with carbon attached to exhaust. with that said and with it being a cool house as you said there will be no need for a/c i would say.:blsmoke:

that requires extra work and money. Set it up first, have the lights run for an hour with the fan you got and go from there. If it gets too warm, then upgrade the fan. No need to have two of them.

Carbon filters are designed to be intakes inside the room. Sucking out the warm/stinky air and exhausting it through the hoods and out of the room. Here is what im talkign about

you can setup however you like but this is the basic idea. And it works.

yes but the other way provides even cooler bulbs and more fresh air its worth the extra bucks and work, just my two cents happy growing

yeah but how do you get rid of the smell? He's obviously going to be flowering a room full of plants. With that amount, you will no doubt be able to smell it through out the house and surround area, which will get you busted asap. Carbon Filters are design to eliminate the smell.

Thanks :)

pull air from outside of room threw bulbs and out room , then using another fan exhaust room with filter. this is how you should do it . how many cfm is your fan 400 and something? i use a 636 to cool 1000w, the filter alone reduces cfm then threw all those lights and duct work ect, you might get away with it, more fresh air is really benifcial. keep posting you will find lots of answers here

it doesnt take a lot to cool bulbs. Your 1000w is alot hotter than a 600w.

All i know is that i use the method i listed, and so does a close friend. Except he DOES cool two 600's with a carbon filter and 6" fan. Seriously, why buy two fans when you only need one to get the job done?

Here is my proof. 6" Vortex fan pulling in air from inside through the filter, through the lights, and out the room.
