Hey guys just put together this indoor tent, is this enough lighting to flower about 3 plants at a time? Thanks
x3 105w spiral cfl (500w equivalent) 2700k
7,150 lumens each
21,450 lumens total
Area is 58"×24" with height of 50"20151209_202100.jpg 20151209_202109.jpg

Not sure thats enough to flower, but for veg it might be ok, but I would add more if you can, especially for flowering...

this is what I use as a guage...

  1. Lumens per square foot:

Minimum amount of lighting needed is around 2000 lumens per square foot.
(Two – 23 watt CFL’s, per square foot*)

Mid range is around 5000 lumens per square foot.
(Three – 23 watt CFL’s, per square foot*)

Optimal is 7000-7500, or higher, lumens per square foot.
(Five – 23 watt CFL’s, per square foot*)

*I’m only using CFLs as a reference here, with the assumption they’re kept at a distance of 3 – 5 inches from the plant. It is important to understand that the “penetration” (the farthest measure that quality light reaches down into the plant canopy) will at best be only a few inches deep.

What you have will work, but the buds will more than likely be small and light in weight. I'd pack in as much light as possible - given if done it increases heat and need for better air circulation and exhaust. Good luck!

In hopes of less heat and more lumens, I'm going to switch to a 4 in 1 socket in each of those 3 existing sockets. I plan on using x12 42w (32,750 total lumens) or x12 55w (42,500 lumens), but I'm afraid x12 85w would create too much heat. Where is a good place to buy that many bulbs?

What arrangement would you use to illuminate a 5x2 area with CFLs for optimum production?
Going with cfls because cannot be loud or hot. Thanks

The cfl's seem to give out very little heat. Given it's low, it's content and it's a little surprising how a small amount of additional cfl's can increase the heat quite a lot. If possible, work on ventilation and exhaust - that will be a small cost to improve a lot...

I'm using x2 DC 12v 3 inch fans for exhaust and one for intake but I will probably upgrade to Ventech exhaust soon.
