WTF ... Widow/Purple ..RW.. Flood Table Pls Help

So this is a mix of widow and purps...

I germinated the seeds, planted in 1" RW cube... dipped cubes in 250ppm pure blend nutes for about a week until roots showed...

put the 1" RW cubes in 4" RW blocks.. (i normally use baskets/hydroton but thought id try these blocks for a change)...

had good growth for about 1 week at about 400ppm 6.0pH flooding my table 2x a day to a medium waterline (about 60%up the sides of the blocks)

about 5 days ago i started to see some shit on the edges... i wont say burning cuz thats what im tryin to figure out...

So im tryin to figure out if its a watering issue or nute deprivation...

I always use calmag/pureblend grow and they flourish just fine...

some say to let the cubes dry out then rewater ... the guy at the hydro store says you can hit em with flood as often as you want as long as the reservoir is WELL oxygenated (which mine is)....

now with 1" cubes i always dry em out then hit em up... they dry fast and you can dip em once a day to wet em up a bit.. not a hard concept....

now these 4" cubes this is my thought...

if it IS nute deficiency... maybe i flood ..the roots suck up the shit they need and for the rest of the day even though the cube is wet they still dont have enough food... i dont see any over watering signs... so im thinking upping my ppm from 750 to 900 (which i just did) then lowering the water line to hit the first inch of the cube (which I just did) and then flooding 3x a day to ensure plenty of nutes of a balanced nature are gettin in there.....

then in the back of my mind im thinking... i wonder if i should let the cubes dry out to half the water weight... but that means that they could still have the deficiency if they are eating up what they need and they dont get the proper levels for 2 days till the cube dries up a bit....

also nute deficiency will first show in older foilage.... which mine show... (the new growth is nice n green) the 2nd and 3rd nodes down are the ones yellowing from the outside in...

when i run my baskets w/ hydroton... i start clones at 750 and power em up to 1000 within a week ...just for your reference and i run at 6.0ish with great results....

how should i be flooding this table?

I either need higher ppm (like 1000) and water once every couple days

or

900ppm which im at now 3x a day at a low waterline...

it was showing problems at 2x a day at 650ppm about 5 days ago at waterline about 60% up the cube...

meanwhile... in the batcave... the 16 in pic 252 are kickin ass veggin under HPS ;)

all I can say is that you need a fan or a better one those stocks/twigs wont hold shit also tome it looks a little of both 2 much water and nute burn

the guy at the hydro store owes you an apology....he's telling you its ok to drown those babies......they can be watered a couple of times per lights on only if it's a fully developed vigorous plant that can use up the water. the amount of o2 in the medium is mute....the plants cannot use the water up by the time the o2 is depleted. thus drowning them. i did it too and wished someone would have told me.

on a better note though, you can flood those pellets about as many times as you want in a "day" as long as you keep the rw cubes at least a half inch above the flood line. then your highly super duper oxygenated nute solution will kick those babies into high gear.

oh btw....nice set up:weed:

Bugs is spot on. Over-watered and over-fertilized is what's happened. Plants that size in RW could probably go 1 flood, 15 minutes every 2 days. You should prolly get them ppms to around 300 for a minute or two.

As far as E&F mediums go, hydroton > rockwool. Not a good idea to reuse rockwool and it is a recurring expense.

When you find your keepers (moms), fill that tray up with the hydroton and skip the pots/net cups all together. Beds o' clay my fiend, beds o' clay.

Ya its just the first time with 4" blocks... just not sure how to work them right... the 1" blocks are a breeze its hard to fuck those ones up... it just seemed weird watering once every couple days since im used to running baskets w/ rocks...

I have a few tent projects goin on this is just one of them that im having some trouble with...

I just wasnt sure if that was nute deprivation or over watering...

you cant see it but theres a good fan and filter in the tops of all my tents... those 4" cubes are getting plenty of air from the top...

i lifted the "grodan" labeling up about an inch so the bottom inch is exposed better with the intent of providing better drainage....

ok so just get these blocks fairly dry before rewatering? no prob. and its fine and normal for them to take a couple days to dry out?

Im so used to the 1" cubes drying out daily so its kinda a shocker to see these 4" ones taking two almost 3 days to dry up...

ive been growing this strain for about 5 years... the first 4 years were soil and ive had excellent hydro harvests in the last year ...almost 3x the harvest weight that I had in soil.

but ill tell ya... for all you who think youre gonna just jump in to hydro... every setup / environment is so different... even a guy with a few hydro harvests in other substrates can find a challenge when you want to try other setups/substrates... gotta love that!!

Thanks fellas...

ill repost in a few days after i get back from vancouver bc...!

the "stocks" "twigs" which are actually "stalks" are fine... these are little seedlings bro... you dont get a tree over night. If you wanna see a stalk... ill post a pic of my 18" plants with stalks the size of a dime. They take time homie.
