WTF is up with these buds?

I've had this happen before and it was due to me not following strict lighting regiment. Honestly, if you want to be positive about it, yes, it's extra substance that you can smoke, but man, its not what you're after. This is certainly not a desireable trait in marijuana.

NOT TRUE!! i just had a post with a hermie that did exactly this same thing look for the post by me on it
 
agreed punk - it's not real nice to look at. i got pretty lax with the lights cuz i was building other setups in there. i don't know anything about hermies... here's a question. i bought 15 feminized seeds and am into my second grow with them. 5 white widow, 5 kush, and 5 AK-48. Last harvest the ww plants produced some seeds. about 20 in all i think. i was totally shocked but kinda forgot about it as the plants were nice and full. this time around fully gown from clones there are no seeds, but the above issue is showing in the kush. i don't know if i'd know how to spot a hermie - ima go read up - but ive not noticed anything unusual in any of the plants. any idea what's going on?

Well if you know what male parts look like, they typically form first in the interior or lower branches.

Usually you'll see the hermmie, or male parts, after about 3-5 weeks into flowering.
 
well, on a good note-the seeds u get from when one gal knocked up another will be either female or hermie, its a less stable method to get fem seeds than the other way but they are still plenty good, you just gotta be a lil vigilant for hermis.
