Well Topping Is When You Cut Off The Top Cola So It Grows In Double But I Think You Mean Trimming Not Fimming

Thanks. So you just chop of the top bud and more grow in its place? Sounds like it would just kill it or at least stop it from budding.

it stops the top you cut but it doesn't stop the other grow shoots. trees dont die when u cut a branch off

I Was Gonna Say That But I Was Busy! Dude Your Readin My Mind.
ha, i'd say topping is only for the plants in the middle of your GR which should be indicas. this allows for the plants along the wall(your sativas) to recieve more light

this was a pic when i first LST'd them. the plants didn't give that much so i tied the middle of the main canopy to the stake and then bent the top by tying it down with string like a day later
the plant directly abve ^^^^^^^^ closest to the door i topped.

Topping and fimming are both ways of inducing stress to a plant in the vegetative state. This positive stress has good outcomes if done correctly with the right strain because not all strains are receptive to these forms of stress. Topping is basically locating the newest growth ( the top growth node) and totally clipping it off. What happens with topping off is that the growth hormone shoots down therefore encouraging the plant to promote lateral growth theoretically making your plant bushier. Fimming is a term coined to a guy who accidentally came up with this method meaning fucked I missed (FIM). Fimming is basically topping but leaving about 20% of the new growth rather than completely taking it off. Fimming if done correctly will generate more areas of colas rather than 1 central one. Hope this clarifies things for you.

Does LST work better than topping? I would think LST would cause less stress because you're just bending the plant not cutting it.

alright...with the FIM you clip right above the top node and two more grow, correct? sounds good to me...and the beding theory (LST i guess) i read about and i am almost sure i am going to do when the time comes, seeing as i want more of a bush than a tree...i would like to see some pictures of the LST for sure...and know when the time is right to tie the plant down and everything...
