How about some background? Grow media? Environment? Water/nutes?

I've had success with a seedling kit from WalMart, some rockwool cubes in a half gallon orange juice jug a cut in half and doing the microgreen grows in the dollar tree tubs. I will give you the stuff I grow isn't the same as you but I think the techniques are close.

Got to keep em damp/wet to get em going. I don't go to nutes until the seedlings are bigger and going into the rain down spout grow things I use.

Keep at it. Not everything works every where. If you don't succeed try something different . Doing the same thing over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Get a notebook and write down the seed, the climate, how much you water. How did the seeds do. Then at least you won't be doing the exact things again if they don't work and it might be some small thing needs changed to make your grow successful.

Www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com has a great free tutorial and trouble shooting guide. I love this site but that’s where I go for tutorials and I buy seeds there. Or buy a book. Your prob drowning them. And try to use LED prob have better luck. And don’t nute to week 2-3. I don’t even put my seedlings in any light till the first round leaves sprout. A light fan not blowing directly at seedlings helps to.

I've used every seed starting method out there, and have decided that putting the seed (1/4" down) into a 2"x2" peat pot with plain germination mix (both available on Amazon) works the best.
As soon as they pop (3 days), you can place them in in their final pot, no matter what you are using (coco, soil, Hydroton)
Try it, you'll definitely like it.

I honestly don’t even germinate. I put them in grow medium a seeds length deep(not deep at all then I mist medium with water till damp. I keep in dark for a day or 3 keeping the medium damp and then when the 2 round leaves are almost spread open I turn on nutes. Ps. Pointy side of seed down. They can turn themselves around but sometimes they don’t make it so I start with pointy side down. Mist and damp. Good luck

Here's what i do:

- Seeds in a cup of water until they sink (case is cracked)
- Put in base soil about 1/4 inch down
- Cover seed with filtered down soil which looks like dust when im done with it.
- Lightly mist top to wet filtered soil cover
- Place under homemade terrarium until they sprout

I use peat containers, place them in a water basin within the terrarium and add water to the basin when needed. I dont do as many plants as some of you but ive been close to 100% germination doing it this way.

Put two pieces of kitchen Roll under a tap if the waters good ,if not use bottled water.put the seeds on top of these two damp a couple more pieces of kitchen roll ,and put these over the seeds, the kitchen roll wants to be damp not wet through.Put these now into a sealer bag ,or just a bag and tape top over ,I use two small saucers plates ,to stop them getting damages by accident. Then put them some where out of harms way ,room temp warmish.Check them after 3 days ,you can check after 2 ,but I leave 3 full days then you normally have a good root on each seed.Once they are checked and you have roots plant in medium.Any that ain't Rooted ,leave and they will crack ,but I normally go for the front runners with Feminized seeds.but still save the others just in case ,then choose the wants you like further a long the line.I have pretty much 100% Germination rate with this method ,if the beans are from a good breeder.

Hope this helps

Hey Moe...
What's happening? Do they pop OK and then die? Damping off? Or do they not pop at all?

More often than not its through messing around with the seeds ,Why I don't like putting them straight into a medium,I like to see the Root start.I like to know that there getting put into Soil or coco even Rockckwool, once the seed has a nice root.

I used to do like you. Pop them on paper towel...then into medium...but I always worried about damaging the tender taproot so switched over to just sticking seed in .

So like most of the guys above suggested...just plant direct. Pointy side down if your eyes are good enough (mine aren't) I use peat pucks if going ti soil...and the little rockwool cubes if it's destined for hydro.

I like to know what the Roots like ,Normally the first to pop and have that nice white Root ,tend to be the Front Runners right through,Because once a seed splits,it main focus for the next few days week or so is to build roots.I ended up digging down to see if they was doing ok,that the reason I like the clam method. With the two saucers with seeds in middle on wet paper towel.I just half full a pot, then wet it with Just plain water, plant the seeds a few MM. Below the surface.Normally within a few days the seed will be through .Reason I half full the pot ,is no matter how much light you have, they all ways seem to stretch, this is when I put the other bit of coco around the seedling.Works a treat.I have been doing seeds like this for years now ,and has long has the seeds are good ,you will get pretty much 100% success rate.I have been ordering seeds in singles from the good breeders ,and all have been producing good weights .The Lemon Amber Kush in my last post was Germinated in the way I said above. But do what your most Confident in,when you have a run of bad luck with seeds ,it's good to know the seedling has a root, before it hits the medium,or you will be thinking has it hasn't it germinated .

Hope this helps
Tyke.

Same here... Seeds ain't cheap. I scarify with a nail file. Soak-sink-jiffy puck.
I have Big Paws.. they don't need me delivering babies!

Man I'm having the exact same problem, it's very frustrating. I've been suffering from over thinking and overwatering. Trying too many different things, now I'm just going back to Coco in a solo cup.

There's some great information on this thread

Being an old timer...I can recall when coco became a popular medium. Then and now...people can have seedling issues if there's any residual salt on coco. Even now, you can't be sure pre-rinsed coco was rinsed enough. Seed will pop and grow until cotyledon is used up...then stall.

Better to start in hydroton and then into coco IMHO...bongsmilie

Actually point side up.

I've actually seen one spin several times under the soil trying tostraighten itself. Wish I would have thought to take a pic.

Most of the time it doesn't matter. They fall ever which way in nature. In theory it makes since the flat spot would land down since it's wider.

Oh. The more steps just mess it up. Straight to soil. It's a seed. It doesn't need help. Properly stored seed should sprout no problem for years.

Hay guys, sorry for the late reply been pretty busy
I sorted out the problem haha yeah came down to overwatering lol didn't use my moisture prob so ended up overwatering due to the cool weather here, I was just guessing and I was wrong on watering, cost me some good seed too but that will teach me for not using my growing tools!!!

Thanks for all the information theres some great info here, some great guides also
My 2 cents
I use seedling starting mix, pop in water (24-48) on heat mat, depends when I get to seed if small tail put in warm moist paper towel, or if larger tail straight into seedling mix on heat mat and off ya go keep moist not wet
