ok i got this light from a friend and i been havin probs. Ive included pics so u can help hopefully. When i got it, it had the three prongs but the ones on top were sideways im guessing a 220v, but the ballast is marked 120v. so i went to home depot and go the 120v plug and tried to reconnect, and still nothing. Any suggestions??? If u need more info let me kno.

O and the cord im talking about is the cord that goes from the ballast to the outlet, and the pics are of the ballast and the replacement 120v i connected, and the original plug that came with it.

I'm pretty sure that is a 220v connector that WAS on there... the ballast has lots of options for supply voltage... that is called "mulit-tap"... if the cable was for 220v and you want to run it on 120v - you will have to switch the ends like you already did, but then INSIDE the ballast you will see where those wires go, and you have to hook them up to the 120v terminals... i dont claim to know what the inside of the ballast looks like, but if you find the user manual for the system i would guess that it explains it in there and shows you the proper way to wire the inside for 120v...

hopefully that gets you started...

Interesting....

I'm no electrician but it almost looks like the original plug is for use in a European Country. I'm wondering if a converter like this http://www.world-import.com/WSS417.htm would work???

Another option is to take the whole damn thing to Home Depot and ask the guys in the electric dept. how to convert the thing.

Good luck :)

Here's a link to Hydrofarm's Technical Support page: http://www.hydrofarm.com/support.php

They are in California, their support number is listed on the page. Call them up and tell them what you need..... they should be able to point you in the right direction for an instruction manual you can download..... or perhaps direct you to a local dealer who could swap out the plug for you.

Good luck :)
