Apologies Mr. Belvedere,

I agree, this 25 mile rule Arizona here sucks. Because one businessman here decided to open a store, everyone in 25 miles now has their grow rights stripped. almost 99% of the state of Arizona now is covered by some kind of dispensary.

This creates almost a weird legal cartel. I wish we had a Colorado model. I would love to be able to go to the farmer's markets.

A legal cartel is exactly how I would put it. MPP was also responsible for the 25 mile rule

No, I don't live in AZ, but the chances my state will move on pot is dependent on how many other states legalize (referenda aren't permitted in PA).

As Washington is proving, growing can be legislated in after the fact.

Yes but you are foregetting that Washington DC law makers along with 75 percent of registered voters in DC are democratic. The lawmakers there fully supported legalization Washington DC is very liberal city if you have not been. That's why they had no problem getting them to make changes to the law as I said earlier it takes 2/3 vote of both house and senate to add amendments to a voter approved law. Here in AZ it would be a much diffrent story the politics here are more concervative than anywhere else in the country in my opinion trying to convince an almost all concervative legislature to add home growing to the bill forget it we would end up having to wait another 4 full years till we could get another mesure on the ballot to allow for home cultivation it's just going to be best in the long run if we get MPP to change the draft now!

Update: Things are getting really weird here in AZ. I am sure as many of you all ready know a separate group has filed a second legalization initiative in AZ that will be competing with the first This was filed by Gina Berman who is medical director of The Giving Tree Wellness Center I have yet to see the actuel language on this initiative but from what I hear it's not going to allow home grow BE PREPARED TO BOYCOTT Giving Tree Wellness Center as soon as you hear the word they only understand if you hit them in the wallet there facebook page is a good place to start I have also heard that MPP is going to budget 10,000 dollars to pay people for 1000 hours of time to pass out unkind literature in front of the dispensary. I am not a big fan of MPP right now (although we are working with them to get the language changed to allow home cultivation) but they are just trying to help in this case.

Grow Ur own then and disobey that unjust law. It's your duty to do so. There's people growing in non medical states. Stop being a bitch hang up a light.

The impetus behind this bill is jealousy over AZ dollars being spent and taxed for MJ in Colorado. As the chowderhead express so bluntly put it, weed is easy to grow and people have a strong motive to break the law when dispensary prices are sky high. Leaving home growers out in the cold only perpetuates the drug war.

This bill gives the impression of moving towards legalization but does the opposite; it protects the black market by forcing high legal prices, provides revenue for the drug war from MJ sales taxes AND perpetuates the drug war system of funding militaristic police forces through property confiscations of people growing a few plants. The right wing government will love it and will have no reason to change it.

This is a bad bill and I hope that AZgreenthumb and others manage to change it.

Update: MPP has changed there bill to include home cultivation rights it's going to be 6 plants per patient and only 12 per household this is really strict but better than nothing. What we need to focus on now is combating the competing legalization initiative filed by Gina Berman who is medical director for the giving tree wellness center dispensary in Phoenix AZ she and other dispensary owners broke off from MPP because they did not want home cultivation rights included in the bill and they also did not agree with MPP wanting to allow for an unlimited amount of dispensarys in AZ. Soon after the split this group filed there own legalization initiative there bill will not include home cultivation rights they are so in love with the current monopoly and all the money there makeing that they would rather risk derailing the whole movement altogether than allow people to get there meds anywhere else besides a dispensary. We need to BOYCOTT Giving Tree Welness Center hit them in the wallet where it hurts see this thread for more info. https://www.rollitup.org/t/az-growers-in-danger-please-help-boycott-giving-tree-wellness-center.866222/#post-11468940
