Wrex's Special Kush No. 1 Meizhi 300w 2x2x4FT Dank Tank

OK guys so here we go, got everything pretty much ready to go now. I'll be growing Special Kush No. 1 from Royal Queen Seeds. Ordered it as a quick back up from Herbie's when my order from The Original Sensible Seed Company got seized by customs. Still waiting on the "Replacements" from OSSC and will update how that ever went also. Got the Meizhi 300w (140w True) for my introduction into serious LED hobby growing, which seems to be made by the same manufacturer as Mars Hydro or they are just clones. Seeds planted directly into dirt on the 15th of August and sprouted on the 17th. First pic is when they first went under the led after spending the first week under 92w of mixed 2700k and 6500k CFL. Temps have been high but I have ordered all the ducting and an inline 100cfm fan to pull a bit of the heat. Sitting in cheap Miracle Grow (I know, I know) feeding only water and foliar feeding with a VERY light Epsom Salt regiment. Second pic is after five days in the tent, and the third is today's progress before watering them at 14 days old. Kind of a work in progress since I'm growing with at times a serious budget.

Got the exhaust all hooked up today. Hopefully now I can at least close the tent without it hitting 100 or more. Not much to update on the plants at the moment. They are lovong life and not getting much taller but wider and bushier for sure. Every node has branches popping out. Thinking once I have this grow under my belt with this set up I'm going to switch to all autos in 1g smart pots from here on out for a faster turnaround. I don't know I'm torn maybe I'll clone lol...

3 weeks and 3 days in. Everything is looking great. Got two Afghani Regs that are getting germed in 1g pots the old fashioned way. Thinking about flipping into 12/12 here in about 4-5 days maybe a week and a half tops. Let the Special kush flower and 12/12 from seed the Afghanis. Wondering if I should transplant the Kush into atleast 1g bags. Dunno if it will improve yeilds much or what at this point. Got a new clip on fan to replace the little Honeywell so I could free up space on the floor
(They just got a foliar spray and got wet and droopy for the last two pics. My phone is a potato I'll get better camera pic when I can.)

27 Days in and they have received their first day of 12/12. Everything's still looking good excited for some bud action soon. 1/2 of the Afghanis has popped on the 10th and is in the back corner of the tent. Hoping for a female but may possibly use a male Afghani to my advantage later well see how it plays out. The Special Kush are nearing the end of their foliar feeding just as the Afghani is about to begin it. No pic of the Afghani yet since it's only a day or two old, but here is the Kush getting bushier and now beginning the stretch.

Okay so today is officially day one of flowering for the SK1. Noticed the tiniest of white hairs popping today. Phone cameras shit so I'll use a better one after a few days. Afghani in the back, dug the slacker up and it was rooting in so I expect to see he/she tomorrow or so. Couple of quick shots I got.

Thanks guys switching to Organics, or Coco on the next round. The Afghani that didn't break dirt never will. Threw a candy from delicious seeds in to replace it.

Looks awesome man. I'm going to follow for sure I have nearly the same set up with my first grow just have the 300w actual output mars reflector and I'm about 14 days behind you. You really got me thinking about flowering soon too, since I've never grown I'm curious to see how much they stretch and I better make sure I have room with such a small tent. I have a scrog net I'm going to try in my tent with topping the plants.

Alright guys tried my hand at defoliation for the first time. Hoping that this will really help add weight to all the lowers that where hidden. Did a bit a LST to tie down two of the branches that where getting out of hand. Got a small CFL veg box still from my last grow before moving to Colorado so I think here in the next month we will be firing her up for a couple new girls to veg in while the special kush finishes. What do y'all think of the haircuts? Did I f@#$ up or do ya think I'll get that Christmas tree shape I was hoping for... Only time shall tell.

I was curious about that, whether they'd stay any squatter if I went to a actual 300 or two of these 140w or if I'd just get better penetration. I was worried about the Kush stretching too much but I feel like I should have vegged longer actually though you might get faster growth with your light.

Quick update, the girls are bouncing back nicely after the defoliation. Lower branches are getting much thicker and popping hairs while the main colas are beginning to bush up a little and growing new fan leaves. Afghani is now 7-8 days old and growing a little funky but about to take off it seems. The Delicious Seeds Candy AKA Cheese Candy popped it's head today wearing the shell still so keeping her misted. Today is day 4 of flowering on the SK1, day 8 above dirt for the Afghani, and day 1 above soil for the Candy. I'll take some pictures in the next week with a better camera once there's much to show. SK1 is still popping new hairs everyday. Hoping for atleast a half ounce to ounce per plant in these smaller containers.

Thanks bud, moved the Candy to the CFL box so I can mist and watch her after lights out on the tent. Might just veg her in the box for a bit too, maybe help promote a bigger plant when shes ready.

Quick update, we are on day 12 of flowering for the Special Kush. Day 14-15 for the Afghani. Day 7 of life for Candy. Experiencing what I believe to be Magnesium issues with the Special Kush. Ordered Cal-Mag and will be here tomorrow night. Sloooooow growth on the Afghani, been wondering if the light tan ugly tiny seeds they called freebies had anything to do with the outcome of this strain. One plant never germed, just sprouted a tap root and died and this Afghani is mutated and a slow grower. Maybe some good smoke if I let it stay around but I won't but trying to breed or clone this one. Delicious Seeds Candy aka Cheese Candy is loving life and adjusting nicely. Quick normal growth with this one already. Took a couple of cuts off the Special Kush gals, a lower off each one that hadn't developed any hairs or received much light. Figured I'd put em straight into dirt watered with some super thrive and see if even one takes off. If they die then I woulda lollipopped em or something anyway.

OK so here we are on day 19 of flowering for the Special Kush. Seemed to have a magnesium def. Been using CalMag+ at 1ml per gallon since and the fading has slowed/stopped. Ordered Fox Farms Big Bud to help these girls out and it should be here tonight or tomorrow. Looks like ounce per plant if I had to guess still. Wishing I woulda vegged longer but live and learn these girls didn't stretch for nothing really. Lollipopped em and defoliated a bit but plan on not doing much from here on out.

Here is the Afghani, 23ish days old. She's just been a weird growing anomaly. Every leaf has some weird mutation or disfigurement and every new branch growing only has one leaf growing per node. Still keeping her around for now.
Here's the cute little Candy, she's now 15 days from popping her head. She's doing fairly good since being abandoned in the corner and beginning the 12/12 from seed journey. She looks a little nitrogen hungry?
Here's the clones took the saran wrap I was using for humidity domes off two days ago and they are still alive. Nervous to dig em up and check for roots but if I light pull on em they don't give from the soil so I think we got roots starting atleast. These clones will be vegged under around 100w of CFL for a month or longer before room is open in the tent so I am hoping to get more weight from the second run.

Checked the clones today and had roots on both. Both have been put into 1g smart pots, watered them in with a bit of Cal-Mag and Big Bloom. Super excited that these clones rooted under such ghetto conditions.
