WPM problem only with 1 strain. HELP

Hey guys. Noticed WPM a week or so back. Slowly creeping around fan leaves closer flower. I’ve tried insecticidal soap and am now trying baking Soda with water, seems to slow it down but hard to stop it completely. I understand you can wipe it off but there’s gotta be several hundred leaves and that doesn’t seem 100% effective in this case. The plant is quite large. I’ve already pulled one small plant due to this issue. Spreading from Black Diamond strain. Should’ve done research before putting in with the mix I guess it’s known to have issues. 2-3 week into flower. Plant is still healthy but I have a massive Master Kush and decent sized Gorilla glue right next door. And I’d rather pull this one plant than lose them all eventually. Luckily the others are only first week of flower the Black diamond bloomed earlier. I’m really on the fence on what to do, I don’t mind sacrificing one to save the others. I haven’t been feeding it to much N and I did defoliate it twice before flower. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.
Happy growing!

At only 2 weeks of flower you could still do a sulfur burn, the nuclear option. It shouldn't smell up your future buds too bad. I did one as a preventative last week and have yet to see any mildew.

I'm waiting on Dr Zymes' Eliminator, suppose to be safe for humans after use and will eat away the PM.

Thanks for the info. Because of time and cost I’m really leaning towards just pulling it out. I’d really hate to but like I said the others don’t have the weak genetics this one does. It definitely needs a certain environment to thrive. I don’t mind being a horticulturist but there needs to be a balance, I spent a hour or 2 a day with them anymore and it becomes a job.

Is that from your experience? They teach you to dilute with soap and wipe off any mildew residue where I’m from. But that’s not efficient in my scenario.
Well if you wet it down use some h2o2 solution so it kills the spores. Still, the moisture only serves to promote more mildew growth and the humidity can remain after the peroxide is broken down. Raising the pH of the leaves with an alkaline spray is also helpful so perhaps some potassium silicate or if you must baking soda to pH the foliar application up to at least 9 or 10. Also the soap, it acts as a surfactant, I have found it lacking though, still get beading.

It's pretty much impossible to get rid of PM once you have it aside from going nuclear <see below>. With the aforementioned methods you may slow it down but as the plants start to ripen it usually ends up winning the battle.

Nuclear Options: A sulfur vaporizer is a way to actually win the battle if you can use one in your situation, not advised in flowering though unless you like buds that smell like cat farts but it is a good way to sterilize a room of the spores. Another way is an expensive device called AirROS by Sage Industries, this is the gold standard of PM elimination.

Even products that you don't wanna use in flower like Eagle 20 have lost their effectiveness in many circumstances because it is apparent that PM is developing some immunity to it. You don't wanna use it anyways.

Renfro have you ever used an AirROS?

I was checking out their web page, they advertise no prices. I put in an enquiry to their sales desk.

thanks

Thanks for the info. I talked to a experienced grower and he said to defoliate and remove as many damaged leaves as possible. This black diamond strain has some genetic issues has it can only be bred from a clone. Live and learn. Am going to defoliate and spray with baking soda and water as that’s all I have right now. Thanks again. Happy growing!

That only happened because you got PM. Most cases of PM happen because the enviroment wasnt correct, sounds like you need more airflow and lower humidity if running a non-mold resistant strain.
More fans and/or a dehumidifier for next time, it only takes one fight with PM to learn how critical managing humidity can be.

Tell them Renfro sent you. It is a little costly but for what you get it's a good deal provided your grow is large enough to warrant the installation. Their smallest unit would be a 2000 cuft one.

Yes I have one, and I love it. It works like a charm. You need good air circulation of course, but we need that anyways. You also have to kill and carbon scrubber thats in the room as it will scrub the ROS out of the air.

How long do you run it each day, or do you run it constantly?

"Tell them Renfro sent you."

I'll tell them that you said hello.

Will they give me a Renfro discount? ;)

Ideally you would have it run 24/7. This will control odor and it will keep things sterile. I believe this is the best for controlling botrytis because once the bud grows around a spore the air won't touch it to sterilize it. For WPM you probably don't have to run it all the time, but at least daily. I cycle my unit through my two flowering rooms, 12 hours a room when the lights are off. I do this because I currently use the air from my carbon filters to help circulate the room when lights are on (they blow under my lights and above the canopy. I plan to get another AirROS so I can dedicate one to each room and then replace the carbon filters with a wall mount fan.

Ask for Michael Alaman, he will help determine exactly what unit is perfect for your needs. We use a multiplier to size for flowering rooms so be sure to mention that. They sell to growers all the time and will be happy to help.

ps

Which option package would you pick?

I assume portable, ozone sensor? Touch screen controller?

You need the ozone sensor, it's just weather or not it's integrated to the unit or for larger areas it's in a separate housing that can be located across the room.

The touch screen is the same way. You need it. Ask for a cover to prevent light leakage from the screen, they will put one on there for ya.

Have the measurements of your room handy when you call.

You want to place the unit up high so you may need to make a shelf or mount the unit up on a wall. They provide diffusion socks as well. Michael will get you setup with what you need for your space.

Something cool I figured out about these AirROS machines, there is a memory card stuck in the touch screen (inside the box) and the unit stores the PPB readings on the card.

It’s an outdoor grow unfortunately can’t dictate wind and humidity. I’m going to defoliate heavy. Never had this issue before but I’ve never planted this close either. So that’s the main issue. Thanks for the feedback.
