Would you switch?

I have a 4' x 4' x 5' tall space, lined with Mylar. The girls are almost 3 weeks into veg, and very stable. I wouldn't be too concerned about making a major change to their lives.

I have the opportunity to swap out my 15 100w equivalent CFLs on splitters covering 5 plants to a 900w LED panel.

TL;DR : Swap out 1500w of clfs for 900w LED?

The price is amazing, and I would like some opinions.

Cheers

Unbranded MFG, but the data on the reds, blues and whites look proper from what I've seen. I think it would qualify as a mid-range model.

Unbranded? suspect. so you have 15x23w cfls which is a draw of 345w compared to an LED like a marsII 900 pulling 390w or a G8LED 900 pulling 540W. I mean it depends what you want to do. it is all about how much power you draw vs how efficient that light is for plant energy vs initial outlay costs.

In a 4x4 space you'll need the bigger LED. Make sure it fits your 4x4 area.

Just a heads up: most LED's are 2 ft away from the canopy. It is going to be hard to grow in a 5 ft tall space with LED's...

I am going to switch myself to the California light works 440 led (actual wattage of light output is 350w) in a 3x3x7 space. There are better brands out there for sure, but I want to buy locally.

People will say to DIY, but I now absolutely nothing about it and I know I would fuck up.

Incredibly suspect, I agree. I'm thinking cheap Chinese shit with a made in the USA sticker on it.

True. I usually keep them pretty squat, but a change in the space may be required if I took that step. Interesting.

You're running 350w in a 3x3x7 space?

Wait, am I over doing it with my idiotic cfls, or do I need more because they are less efficient?

That is the LED I want to upgrade to.

Right now I'm running 450w (2700k) and 375w (6400k) CFL's in a 3x3x7 space lol. 825w total. Those are real watts... not equivalent
Here are some pics

to the LED away from your current setup eh? Interesting. May I ask your primary motivation?
Less heat, more efficient, less power consumption. Also more potent and hopefully yield better

I can run two of the LED's for the same power consumption as the CFL's. I can have two 3x3 areas; instead of one
