Poll: Are we moving in the right direction?

Are you satisfied in how previous generations have managed Planet Earth?
Do you have faith that those who are responsible for the planet Earth will do a good job of managing the planet for the next 1000 years?
If you were free to choose would you stay or move to a new Planet?

Unfortunately... even though our Planet is in shambles, it's still the only thing habitable for humans. Mars is the closest thing to a livable planet and it doesn't get warmer than 0 degrees Celsius. Not to mention lack of water, food, air...

I love Earth, its great :)

It's hypothetical not a literal poll.

i think the only way we leave this planet literally will be as slaves taken from earth by the powers already here to create a new life elsewhere it will take alot of man labor to get things up to live able unless everything there was habitable and we could eat and drink and live off the land. but i think if personal space craft and travel became possible i think or gov would have a problem with people leaving freely cause what control would they have left, control the ground control the seas control the sky above control space and than what?

Well the earth will be here long after we are gone and she will heal herself.

There's no place like earth and I seriously doubt there's a similar planet with the same resources as earth.
i dont doubt it, i think beings and plant life may have evolved different some the same and natures course and survival who knows who is the stronger smarter being but if its possible for life to thrive in so many differant forms and walks of life deep dark water creatures compared to land walking or dirt crawlers and the unknown life will find a way to survive and form it self under any conditions we'd be ignorant to think in such a huge space larger than we can imagine or illustrate that we are the only beings why isnt every life form here the same why is everything soooooooo differant just as it would be out there

I'm happy here, I just think humans need to slow down.

No amount of technology is going to make you happy.

We have found that there are a thousand times the number of stars we thought there were.

Conservative estimates suggest there a billion habitual worlds out there.
There was an equation developed by some NASA exobiologist or something that figures how many "habitable" worlds there may be. It's impossible to have any REAL idea though. All we can do is guess. :?:

To answer the question in the thread title...........Why, so we can just trash some other planet?

Well so we can expand our Capitalism and every one can know prosperity other wise we have to tell everyone that all there will be is what someone allows you to have from here on out and that freedom is not possible any more.

I don't follw. :???:

I'm REALLY high so that could be it. I normally have trouble understanding about 1/3 of what you say though, so maybe that's not it after all. :-P

I'm not a person who buys into the whole "utopian dream", and I definitely believe there is no one perfect form of government, there is no perfectly equitable way to redistribute wealth, there is no possible way to prevent ALL people from being greedy, corrupt bastards. You cannot regulate away the ills of society and force people to buy products for the "betterment" of the "hive". It just doesn't work. Look, we've been played for fools by our politicians, both republicans and democrats. Make no mistake about it, we would all like to be free, but this ultra-liberal, progressive, socialist (whatever label you want to put on it) agenda is in direct conflict with a free society and the principles of personal responsiblity and not incarcerating people for victimless crimes. I realize there will be those who cannot take care of themselves and there should, perhaps, be SOME small government programs to assist those which no charity or family member exists which will or can help the individual. It's best for private charities and church organizations to do the bulk of sheltering/feeding of homeless and perhaps more straightforward incentives for hospitals and doctors to provide more charity than they already do. I think many of us are in agreement about the war/s and the enormous spending spree the government has been on for the past decade+. Freedom is not just some abstract concept that is casually tossed around like an old towel. It is the very conerstone which this nation was founded upon and IMO is to be held sacred above all else. With that freedom comes, or should come an openness and responsibility that aren't present in more repressive societies. What has happened to us that we have forgotten what principles are most dear and important? I'm just amazed sometimes...........
