I use Fluorescent tubes and they work great for me.
I have found that with tubes, it is crucial which type of bulb you use. I suggest getting GE Wide Spectrum Plant/ Aquarium bulbs. They are by far better than anything you can find at the hardware store.

yes the floros will do good to veg your plants but to flower u want to pack on the hps.

Exactly, I don't use my fluoro's for anything but vegging.
I guess it is possible to go all the way through but results would not be as good as HPS.

Ya I have a 250w hps I was just gonna use from seed to harvest but been looking around and seems fluorescents for veg is the best thing to do would their be a difference in quality if I just used the 250w the whole grow? also would it be good if I used my 250 as a supplement with the fluorescents when there vegging or their just better off with the fluorescents alone?

See if you want to use the 250 Watt then I would reccomend getting a MH conversion bulb.
Metal Halide are for vegging and High Pressure Sodium are good for flowering.
What you could do is have the fluorescents for vegging and the HPS for finishing. That way you could always have some plants in both stages of growing!

not true..using floro for flowering can be done and it can give great results.
what I was planning
but was wondering if the hps would help it grow better if i didnt have enough floros for vegging

how is his statement not true? he didnt say flouros wont work for flowering..he was just saying the best choice for flowering is an hps. which is true.

I didnt say you cant use floros for flowering but hps would be more ideal besides using floros in flower u wont get near as much as a hps unless you are going over the hps wattage with floros.
