Hi,
I have a spot set up and I have the seeds although....
I have a highpowered extractor fan, a 400 watt fluro light, osilating fan, air freshners and a normal room light running off one power socket.
I am very worried that it will start a fire.
Can anyone re/deassure me?

oh btw, im very sorry if this topic has already been posted.
cheers
Many thanks, tom

if you set up the fans it should be ok, when you set it up make sure to put in a thermometre to make shure your temps stay good

by "normal room light" do you mean an incandescent? if so, take that shit out. you are better off without it. they put out way too much heat and don't give off any light the plant can use. if you didn't mean incandescent, well then carry on good sir, carry on.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's a surge protector going to do to stop a fire from happening? Isn't that just for stopping a lightning strike from frying your electronics?

"A fuse burns out or circuit breaker or polyfuse trips when excessive current flows to a device within the designed time lag and current rating. These can protect from current surges due to the operation a protector circuit (see Crowbar Circuits), or due to the failure of some other component. Fire protection is the most common purpose of these devices." - wikipedia

btw, the incadescent is in another room, but off the same socket.
thanks

get a fire extinguisher, every house should have one, after all getting a fire extinguisher is way cheaper than a new house

also u can get a smoke alarm, they usually are cheap

Are you worried about an electrical fire? Or fire from the heat of your lamp? Keep in mind that the ignition point of paper is 450+ degrees Fahrenheit, wood is about 900 degrees. Floros don't put nearly that much heat out, even at 400 watts.

And no, don't put any water spraying systems in a box full of electrical items lol.. You can get stove top "Fire stop" chemical fire suppressant canisters for about 30 bucks at walmart. They activate when there's too much heat (not sure how much heat though, you'll need to read the label to make sure the heat from your lights won't activate them, they make a huge fucking mess, but it's better than a burned down house.)

thanks mate, thats really quite helpful.
i was more worried about the eletrical fire due to overloading the socket
but the surge protector should cover it.
thanks
