Worms In Mushrooms?

Was up the mountain picking some shrooms for this weekend.and it turns out some of them have we worms in them. Should i just chuck them out or is there anything i can do to save them?

they are larva - if you can stomach eating fly larva then go ahead, otherwise, chuck them.

I stuck them in the freezer, will this kill them so i can just wash them away wen thet defrost?

I doubt it, as the mushroom will turn to mush after it thaws.

Ummm.... Just simply remove them?
I have heard stories of people filling up garbage bags full of shrooms from fields and then eating them.
Do they not wash these mushrooms? Do they still have little pieces of cow shit on them when they eat them?
I always wash all mushrooms that I grow, even though the small ones are such a pain in the ass to wash.

You don't have to wash the mushrooms from the store - the soil on them is pretty clean but if you get them from cow pies, you could easily pick up e coli.

How about my monotubs? I always do because I use hpoo, but seriously have spent countless hours washing them.

you pasteurize the hpoo right? i dont wash em but i do cut off the very bottoms cause its still kinda gross

In general, I would agree. But with the state of food industry and its unsanitary conditions, I would wash store bought vegetables too. Every year there are numerous cases of E. coli outbreaks because spinach, onions, tomatoes, etc were contaminated.

...definitely ALWAYS wash your mushrooms, even the ones you grow yourself. Something my mama taught me

As far as larvae/worms/whatever.....you're eating a fungus....that grows off of shit...........and you're worried about a little worm or larvae?

Agaricus C. , the standard button mushrooms, and portobellos do not grow on shit. In fact no mushroom you can buy that I know of does. There are plenty of wives tales about mushrooms - some are even displayed here.

And if you mean Shrooms, like tripping mushrooms, most of those never see any kind of shit either.
