or ... its a fucking pain in the back to water plants. lol.

I agree, its a good idea. .. I would go with a wider funnel and regular garden hose.
I was thinking wider funnel at first, then I'd have to get a much bigger hose. I like to water them somewhat slowly because I've noticed a serious bubbling out of the hole if you just dump (unless that's exactly what you want). Watering plants in the back is a serious pita. This totally helped, just need a water bottle to pour down the spout. The hose part loops out too so it cups gently into the 2 liter. I'm going to go with a PVC table next and then a drain bucket. Version 2.0 involves a drip feeder. Keepin' it stoner simple :) (our new K.I.S.S acronym here at WOH)

Thanks for all the help with the venting issue. I taped the air hood glass seams and it's totally helped mild the somewhat mild smell I was getting. I took all the plants out to water the back the other day (which prompted the point n pour). It stunk to high heaven and the wifey freaked.

Dude, nice!!

I pull the each rubbermaid tray (holds 15 plants, 28"X18") out to water the back. What do you use to pour into your 2l? I have a couple 1cup measuring cups
Thanks man! Im using a blue solo cup right now. 18oz per 2 liter is what they're drinking. I measured the holes about 2.5" from the bottom since it's not completely flat.

When I have alot in the space or a scrog, I use a small fountain pump (70gph model). A piece of 1/2" tubing and a watering wand. These are old photos, I've got a much better wand now. lol

Good luck man, looking forward to following your grow again. What's with the elastic cords wrapped around the top? If it was forcing the chicken wire downward it would be like a mini stadium SCROG.
The bungees are just holing the entire PVC Screen Down to the Flood Table so it does not move,, But I made it so the Flood Table can slide forward, out of the tent, which allows me to trim up the plant in the back. ;-)

I use a Bleach Sprayer to get to the Plants in the Back. It holds a Gallon of Mix, Then pump it up, and the long WAND allows me to reach the plants in the back and waters with a Nice Stream. I pretty much water everything with it, so I am not completely bending over and reaching with a Big Jug of Water.

I havent killed her yet! 6 days in the bucket. Still working on that first batch of nutes I mixed. Giving maybe 3/4 cup per day, not overflowing the holes yet.

my back was about broke from watering, I took the head of a watering wand and connected it to a 25 liter tank on a 4m hose

I feel like a bit of a dope for not having a watering wand. Ive already got several small pumps and meters of garden hose but up till now Ive been using watering cans.

Ive just ordered one off ebay. :)

"This little beauty is 1.25M and you just point and pour into the funnel to feed those thirsty 2 liters. Going to test it out tonight, but thought I would bring my WOH crew in for the beta test."

Dank, you didn't invent that, its a typical beer bong from the frat house (LOL). Believe this or not, I was in a mall strolling through a "Spencer's'" novelty gift shop this weekend and I saw all these beer bongs with funnels and hoses...I thought, hey that would be a nice replacement for my gravity feed bucket in my tent...had nice 3/4" tubing and some sturdy valves. One model had 6 hoses coming off of it for group therapy sessions.

Jela10, you got me :). I was high and wondering what the best way would be to water them without taking them out. I started to envision a beer bong and thought it would be easy to tie one to a pole. Hindsight, the water wand looks more like what I want. Love you all at WOH. The knowledge here is seriously priceless.

I really appreciate the random teachings here because I feel it really gets our creative juices flowing.

Jela10, this is pretty sweet. Do you have any recommendations for the 2 liter setup I have right now? I'm really interested in the gravity feed method. It would really help me out if I had to leave the girls for a couple days on a business trip. Would be nice to see if anyone has a nice feed system they are using for their hempy sogs :)

moebius, you got me hooked mate, put 2 cheese into my first hempys today. lets see what happens!
Welshsmoker, that's great!

What size have you gone with? and what substrate? .... I realized from the other growers here that Hempys can work with any hydroponics substrate going.

Please let W.O.H know how you get on.

Dank ..

I like the sound of gravity feed systems, nice and simple. Although, im thinking its mainly for drip irrigation of a small number of plants.

Xare's Hempy work is the best. A couple of thoughts though, I'm a real stoner and it would only be a matter of days before I tripped over all that tubing. If one of those 2L's falls over its major mess time with perlite.

also, I think those 2L's can be placed closer together. Even when fully matured I could still see the wooden floor between the plants. I much prefer to use tubs and 'place holders' to keep the Hempys close and prevent falling over.

I built my own 'pump' feed irrigation system for a 21 Hempy tub. (see page 21) It worked GREAT and I completed a couple of great grows with it. ... Its design allows for the Hempys to be placed very close. OK, its not gravity but put on a 7 day timer and it automated.

Well now!! I just finished reading from the very beginning and I am completely sold. I've been growing my own meds in soil/less for a very long time (old-timer) lol. Ran a SoG in custom trays and would get an avg or 19-22oz per 600. That being said, after reading this thread and a few others from other forums, I'm so excited to start my hempy. Set-up will be a 600 digi (HPS), cooltube in a 4x4 tent with a 6" fan and basic CF to handle smell for that area. Pain in the ass black duct taping so many 2L, but I know once i'm done, then it's time to party!! Have everything I need, just waiting for the moms to get a lil bigger for the clips I need.

Some of the key factors on changing to hempy (for me) are; (1) No smell of wet soil (Heat skore, especially if you have no house plants lol) (2) Substrate is reusable (recycle nut) :) Easy clean-up of waste (roots/stalk). I'm sure there are a bunch more, just having a brain fart and looking forward to including my knowledge with the large amount of knowledge already in this thread/forum.

I have 2 strains but will mostly focus on the one for now. Cristal Limit from KC Brains. Grabbed some reg beans a few yrs ago and did a big ODG and found 3 phenos. Did a small indo for clones and some breeding once the clones went outside. Found a gorgeous pink pheno that smelt like fruit loops x1000 (Profile Pic). Was just awesome but someone ripped them :( Unfortantly lost the mom, but managed to get some beans from a Cristal Limit/Cristal Limit cross (different mom). Long story short, I popped some of those beans this past summer and threw some outside and found my pink pheno. I am presently working on breeding amongst a bunch of Cristal Limit phenos. I will have 6 phenos in my first hempy, 4 of these phenos are about the same (More Ind/Hybrid), the other 2 are identical in height, growth pattern and smell, these 2 look to be more Sat dom, but we will see.

Enough about my plan, soon as I get started I will post here and join this awesome thread. Peace!!

SUPER! We're always looking to increase the knowledge base here at :leaf:W.O.H:leaf:.

Yeah, youre right it is a bore to tape the bottles. but hey. If going the duct-tape route, I would use a quality brand like gorilla tape if possible. Regular duct-tape works but IMO its best to spend the little extra money and do it proper.

Your plants sound delicious Shaggn. We definitely look forward to you getting started and sharing your Hempy experience. :peace::peace:

Thank you Moebius, and thank you again for starting this thread. Took 3 days to read through it lol. I enjoy knowledge tho, so easy for me to sit and read for hrs n hrs. Coin is kinda tight atm after getting all the gear to get this going. I will be taking your gorilla tape idea and just doing it over top the black duct tape. Is the gorilla tape shiny, Like your 2L's? I hope it is as I believe every surface in the gro should be reflective to utilize all the lumens. It may be a lil weaker after bouncing off something, but is useable till it dissipates to nothing!! Another thing, Will I need something as a top coat on my Per/Verm mix, to hold it down during watering/s? I didn't notice in my reading about using something to stop any of the mix spilling out, not sure if that is a problem or not. Peace!!

Its not cheap to get started, trust me I know. Ive been building up my setup over several grows and still not finished.

In my pics I used 3 different tapes, regular duct, silver aluminum ductape, and gorilla. They all work, its just that the gorilla is more durable. The silver duct-tape gives no advantage in increasing light, as far as I can tell.

Perlite does float a bit. If when feeding, you pour very quickly, you'll notice that air is pushed up almost like a 'burb' and the perlite can travel up a bit. Its not a major issue. I did find that on the very sticky Kush I grew that I would find the odd bit of perlite stuck to a lower bud.

Dank, those were the exact links I had in mind for you however the pump timing is critical on some of these "floor-up" systems and takes a lot of experimentation to keep overflows from happening. Then there is the change in growth rate/feed amounts that cause more concentration later in the grow. Timers with a resolution of per/min can be expensive too as the one I bought for an aero-cloner. The gravity feed method I use (pg 25 here on WOH) is geared more for larger buckets since I use watering halo's and I only do two at a time so a "tee" acts as the manifold for splitting the flow between plants. The same thing could be had for multiple 2L if you could rig a manifold pipe up high at the bucket with multiple 1/4" feed tubes spaced tightly together at said manifold. Reason being, you need to build maximum pressure in the manifold pipe before flow into smaller tubing occurs so that all tubes flow evenly. Stands for the bucket could be an issue but hanging it is an alternative if not inside the tent. That's why I shelved my feed bucket outside the tent. Oh yeah...1/4" tubing doesn't work for beer bongs so you can't double duty the apparatus like I can with 1/2" tubing (LOL).
