Moebius, can I use t5's in my regular flourescent fixtures? can I just replace bulbs?
Afraid not. :(

The fixtures are smaller size, as are the bulbs. If you see fluorescents in other pics its likely they're T5 but they require different units.

Generally you can get them in 1 bulb, 4 bulb and 8 bulb units. .... They also come in 2 sizes ..... 2ft and 4ft. and in a zillion different colours and spectrum's.

I have no doubt Teas would work in CoCo. I have this stuff left over from my organic soil days, Ive made all sorts of aerated tea before and think they're great, just not this time.

I have anticipated and factored into my reasoning that some of these organics need time to break down. In fact, i'm counting on it.

When we grow in soil we rely on the (N) being readily available to the plant. The enriched CoCo has enough (N) for the first couple of weeks at least (manufacturers claim) but I'll include Worm humus. Whilst this happens the P/K in the other shit (literal technical term) will start to break down and become available about 3-5 weeks in (total guess).

And I'll have a ton of micros in there to do whatever they do.

The idea is a bit like OC+ but organic

edit:
Ive decided to not add the Epsom Salts into the substrate but dilute and use as necessary.

Oh, reading on the label of these organics, they have guidelines for adding to soil and top feeding.
This will be interesting to watch, could be inspiration to others to try. In thoery (sp) it should work, I would probably go in 1/3's with your bucket then, being 2/3's mixed amendments with 1/3 coco on top. I like the idea of just watering instead of mixing nutes to feed with, the molases is a staple in my grows along with seaweed extract. Now if I could only find an alfalfa extract I'd be set.

The other organic I had was 'Cotton seed extract' but I think I threw out accidentally. I wish I had it now.

[h=1]Cotton seed powder[/h] [h=2](5-2-2)[/h]
Derived from wild jungle plants. Cotton seed powder is an alternative vegetal source with a complete organic scale of the main nutrients guaranteed to release over an extended period of time. High content of organic matter loosens tight and heavy soils and helps light, sandy soils to hold moisture and nutrients.
Use:

  • [*=left]Mix 2 cups with 15 liters of soil (1 plant) in first week or use as top dressing.

I found adapters on ebay, where might I find the bulbs /fixtures?

Ok ...I never knew about the adapters. ... ebay will have the bulbs too, as will hydro-shops. .... Pet stores may have them for Reptiles. And 'lighting' stores certainly will. .... They are multi purpose so you will not look suspect buying them.

I worry about ordering them by mail, they're fragile.

edit:

Look for 'T5 HO 6400K' for red bulbs. HO means High output.

Ok, I'm interested in seeing if I can build a CoCo Hempy with all organics and feed nothing but water seaweed extract and Molasses
Right on Moe, you go for it.. talk about walking on the edge, that arsenal of organics in a hydro environment is gonna teach us something for sure. Hempy is the perfect test bed too.

I was wondering about reptile lights? I saw an led fish tank light and wondered about that too...no hydro shops here or pet shops near, so I'll keep looking...what would u suggest for bulbs?

Here we are 1 week into flowering

Here are the vegging Qrazy train clones that need another week :(

And the Hempy OC+ testers

Everything seems to be looking good. Are you running straight water and calmg on those with oc+ or are you going to add extra nutrients?

My Barney's Farm LSD transplants to 2gal rockwool only hempy buckets is now complete..... Knowing from the past about air-pruning in the res (from using coarse perlite down there)...I cheated a little and aligned the first two layers of cubes like an eskimo would with an Igloo. So the res has fewer air-gaps than the upper layers where I tossed it in erroneously. I thought the cubes would cave in when I pulled the cup out to to do the final transplant but it didn't. It held the shape of the cup so well, the coco cup root ball fit perfectly back into the formed hole. Putting the hydroton balls on top was the icing on the cake and the "fun" part. Yes the leaves are wet, couldn't help but touch the leaves every now and then tossing chunks in the bucket (they were pre-soaked with nutes)...figured they need douching ASAP.

Just straight RO water with Cal/mag and a few drops of roots excelurator to get the roots down to the res. I'll just run these with straight OC+, since I'm using them to breed. If they look like they are lacking, I can take notes on how to improve and what to add.

I do like the attention to detail you take on your Hempys Jela.

It pays off judging by your PE pics. :weed:

Dank, I've always wondered, is there any chance that after a breeding season, the male pollens stick around on surfaces or objects and eventually pollinate future grows? Lets say I know a lot about mycology and mushroom spores and the years of dormancy they can sustain.....it would be the only thing holding me back from MMJ breeding activity's in my home.

When you only do two at a time in perpetual....you get more time for the little details....All but 1 zip of the PE is gone to other patients now...sad to see it go so fast but lots of happy faces out there (my greatest reward).

They are legit. I use those bulbs and they are very bright. I just replaced the ones that I started using around july of 2011 with new ones about a week ago. the Veg bulbs are super bright with just 4 so I cant imagine how bright it would be with 8 of those bad boys lol

You should be good with your lineup as oc+ has just about everything the ladies need. I think for my next 6 im going to use straight oc+ and calmg as well to see which works better.
