Wondering About the Smell of the Plant

I did have 3 plants growing in my bathroom for my very first grow. Not sure of the strains but 2 of the plants were male so i ditched them. My last one just showed signs of being a female the other day with having little white pistils appear.
I am curious about the smell of the plant. Right now if i rub the stem a little i have a slight smell on my fingers. I do not like the way this plant smells. It smells like it might me a mex plant (or others call it swag) in either case it smells like the weed that gets compacted and filled with seeds. Now im not sure if that is where this seed came from because we just hold onto seeds and this year decided to grow. It is possible that we did save a seed from what would be called Shit Weed.
Is the smell of the plant or stem a good indication to what that weed will smell like once it is flowered?

don't worry about it. i have had plenty of plants that when i rubbed the stem they smelled like straight up tooth decay. really unplesant smell. they will develop a different smell as the flowers bloom, and even then the smell of the stem is always different. also, even if the seed did come from compressed brick schwag weed, it does not automatically mean it will grow shitty weed. a lot of that shit weed is grown by careless money whores who put no tlc into it and don't separate the males, dry it in the sun or moldy cellars, and store it in hot trucks for weeks at a time. the product you end up buying on the street is in no way an accurate representation of the genetic potential. and that's a very healthy looking plant by the way. looks like it could use a bigger pot, but very nice. be excited, my friend.
