Wire PC fans to USB phone charger - can it be done?

Like the title says can PC fans be wired to USB phone chargers the same way they are wired to non-USB phone chargers? I have no old phone chargers laying around and went to both best buy and radioshack and all they had were USB phone chargers. Are PC fans able to wire up with USB charger? Thanks

Honestly not sure.. But I would imagine when you split the USB chord you'll find a power and a ground, the rest will be for sending information. I don't think I'd reccomend it because I'm sure it's not rated over 10v. You want the highest amount the fan can handle. So if the fan says 12v you want a 12v chord.

usb should be 5v so it would only just start the fan if that better to get a regulated 12v power plug (unregulater has higher voults when running lower amps than the plug produces) positive is inside of the plud negitive in the out side

Yes. You can wire a PC fan to anything that gives power..even lemon water
