<Over thinker..... is there a way to not have it spread out on a dish to evap the iso, like on parchment or something as to not have and scrap w/razors.
like in the dish and pour on it.

If you are trying to avoid the scrape...

Right as liquid alcohol evaps and you have an oily substance left, you can now scrape onto parchment before it completely dries and hardens.

Finish your purge on parchment, no hard scraping , and you can make a beautiful oil patty..

Do people put sealed mason jars of butane in the freezer? I know you could remove a lot of wax by allowing the oil and tane to freeze again, but are they using blast proof freezers? Has anyone ever been hurt doing it without?

You never put unpressurized butane in the freezer, it's the #1 cause of explosions except for maybe purging inside over a stove. If you saw someone filtering in the freezer it's because all the butane has been boiled out of the ethanol prior to going indoors. That may help explain why the misunderstanding has lead to all fridge related butane explosions. I've evaped ethanol on parchment i folded into a box, but I didn't like it the hole time i felt sketch as i saw the paper look really thin then go back to normal after the vac was done. scrape early and your parchment probably won't look like what I did with a pool of etoh, the oil slick way around scraping works but is category you never know when you buy outside of what there producing. I've seen silicone cookie sheets come back the color of the oil.

Some folks do, but it is a very bad idea. If you scan the various butane mishap forums, you will find one from a couple years back, with the kitchen destroyed and the door blown off the freezer.

I am not doing this, but Correct me if I am wrong if the mason jar was sealed and the temp of the freezer was sub zero, wouldn't it be less likely to do that! Perhaps the temps weren't cold enough, and or they didn't release the pressure periodically an tht is what caused an explosion!

I would like to skip the ethanol step and remove waxes, how can I do this safely?

Noooooo Chewy....please stop him...!!!

Lol

Seriously, no liquid tane in the freezer, unless it's in the can.

Seriously brother...very dangerous.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the dangers involved and have not attempted this because I know its not wise. I was wondering about folks who survived and or people do with proper equipment, it has to retain a more terpenes and flavanoids no?

I'm just going to wait till sub zero temps outside and blast lol! Need a good two day freeze! :)

If you cool the alcohol you are at risk of it imploding not exploding. No need to worry though.. . It has been done many times with no breakage. If anything be carefull that it does not heat up too quickly because the glass can break from extreme temperature differences. Unless its pyrex.

Has anyone themselves or known of someone who has tested the wax that has been taken out of the oil by winterizing? I have a suspicion that the cloudy condensate is crystalline THC-A and not waxes. It would be nice to definitively know that I'm wrong though.

Thca is more polar than thc...
Would not be falling out and would be one of the last things to do so....its most definitely waxes... pretty sure guz even tried smoking some....you did read and understood the process right?(the one I post up all the time)

No whoopee in the plant waxes that we extract via winterization. Especially after again washing the filters with clean alcohol.
