winterizing/dissolving hash and turning it into oil?

Hey guys. I have tons of hash that I dont like smoking. I am an oil guy.. winterized now if possible :lol:

just wondering if I can somehow turn it into oil and winterize it? it is the same process?

right now I got 1.5g of hash chopped up and dissolving in 1.5 liquid oz of everclear.

going to freeze it, strain it, and evap and see what I get??

any other suggestions?
 
ummmm was there much green in the hash to begin with? or any? I would personally do the same thing, idk how much everclear i would use but i feel you prolly used enough. Should work man. make sure to agitate it well to get full dissolution. pics? would be cool to see the color of the everclear before you evap and scrape.
 
its dark, and there was tons of stuff in the filter.. I wonder if the stuff in the filter is smokeable.. its def not plant waxes.. its everything, but is there THC in it still? is there any THC in my clear/filtered mixture in the freezer? there isnt any clouding yet.
 
I've totally wondered about smoking that shit too...so once while making QWIso there was a bunch of what I thought at the time was kif cause it looked just like it. Under further inspection under 100x they were just broken off hairs with the trich heads sucked dry or broken off as well. BUT! I smoked it anyways haha and didn't taste great nor did it get me stoned, but i kept some just for a rainy rainy rainy day.

I originally made my oil extracting bubble using 190 proof to excape the water solubles and chlorophyll. No need to freeze it, it is already separated from the water and any chlorophyll present isn't protected by water soluble chlorophyll binding proteins, so freezing won't save you. It will also go a lot faster warm than cold.

I made gorgeous oil with it and was surprised at what all was left on the filter, even after flushing it with fresh alcohol. Both the trichome stalks and the disc at the base of the bulbs are left behind, as they are cellulose.

I thought we were supposed to soak the oil in everclear, then throw it into the freezer for 48 hours or so? You mention things will go faster warmer than cold.. Im completely twisted with this info..

so is the freezer not necessary??????

are you supposed to use warm everclear initially, agitate, mix, then throw into freezer????

Hope to get that clarified a bit too. I understand that the water solubles will be separated out of the Everclear quickly but i thought it was just way more efficient to freeze it so that the crap settle and clumps together making larger particles easier to filter out.
 
we are talking about a different things guys. I am talking about dissolving my hash into alcohol... just like cleaning your bong.. warm = soft = dissolves faster.

the freezer process is not needed for what I am doing he said, but Im not too sure... its for sure needed for the BHO process though.

I dissolved my hash, filtered it. looked clear. freezer for 2 days and forgot about it. looked like plant waxes in it .. except they were black/brown.

filtered it again, filter caught a lot of stuff. liquid looks nice and golden. I would like to try freezing it and filtering it for the hell of it, but I really wanna try some!!

Ethyl alcohol is a polar solvent, so it doesn't extract much in the way of non polar plant waxes, like non polar butane does.

When extracting from kif, the green plant material and most of the moisture have already been taken out of the equasion, so there is no need to drop the temperature below the freezing point of water, to exclude those items.

Lowering the temperature, does also slow down the dissolution rate of the resin, so I use either hot or room temperature ethanol to extract kif and usually don't bother to winterize it, because not much falls out.

It doesn't hurt to drop the temperature to see what falls out, and if you extract with Iso or methanol and then winterize with ethanol, there are things falling out.

After the three ethanol washes, if you fill the container with water, shake it well, and then boil off the water after filtering, you will end up with some more oil from the alcohol left in the material, and also a carload of redish waxes and other stuff. If you redissolve that in ethanol, the waxes and other stuff won't dissolve, and if you winterize it, more will fall out to leave a nice oil.

I was forgetting to consider polar/non-polar properties of waxes/water/everclear/butane. Just wasn't thinking hard enough i guess. I kinda want to perform some straight Everlcear extractions in a prechilled thermos. With my experience of soaking would you say go for it and do you have any tips real quick, like maybe chilling will slow the extraction too much? I really want to rinse the container with water afterwords and see what washes out...and see how sedative it is. I'm going to jump over to the SkunkPharm and read up there as well!
 
well. the extraction went good.

let the everclear sit and evap fo 24 hours, with 10 mins of extra heat at the end. havnt tried it yet, but there is a nice amount in there considering I only used 1.5g of hash.

got lots more of these stupid hash balls to go!

lol, dude ive been doing this exact same thing all week! what i did is let my hash sit out and get dry, then crumble it up and toss it in one of those little tiny electric grinders, from there i toss the hash into a smaller mason jar and throw in some 91 iso. i put the cap on and shake like hell then switrl a bit, then shake some more, after that i like to throw it under a blanket or in some cloths or a towel, and kinda forget about it for a few minutes, then i come back and do the same thing. now with herb i would normally do quick washes with no soak time like this, but the hash i have is actually fairly decent and from what iv seen, no green plant matter, anyways, after that short soak, i find with the hash im using now, about85-90% of the initial starting material has disolved by. from there i begin my filtering, i have an extra 5 pc sharpstone grinder that i use for this, i took the the grinder and removed the two keif screen sections of the grinder, not the actual screen, but the entire peice of the grinder containing the screen, i put the lower micron screen on top of the higher, and in the second chamber i cut and placed 1 coffee filter, overtop of the courser screen and screw them together, i place this overtop of a clean sterile jar, then i pour through my grinder screen contraption, directly into the other jar, it takes a bit but i find with the top screen in place of my coffee filter, catches most everything leading to less cloggage in the coffee filter, once its done i swish around some iso in my first jar and rinse it out good, then i hit it one more time for good measure, now i take a small SS strainer and place it over that jar with a slightly trimmed down coffee filter and pour my mix through this now and back into the initial starting jar, once thats all filtered, i take it to my double broiler and toss it into my dish and let it evaporate, good shit actually. where you from man if you dont mind me asking?

lolll, you got yourself a lottt of balls there vacpurge.. sounds like you got some fun work ahead though.
 
well. I have a buddy with very nice bubble hash.

he took one of his 20 gram pucks of bubble hash, and dissolved it in everclear and winterized it (I taught him a week ago). boy did he ever make some potent oil. and lots too!!! I am not sure if there is everclear in it or not, doesnt seem like it, but I had 4 big hoots and greened out earlier. vision got weird and I had to go to bed before I threw up. slept for 6 hours. very good shit and im no lightweight.

I will get some of his hash and post some pictures.

just wanted to say that hash + everclear + a filter produces amazing results!!!

I am going to further refine this oil that I got from him.

1 gram im going to re winterize and feeeze, which he didnt do.

1 gram I am going to vac purge, which he didnt do.

and see how much weight I lose.

So i thought i was greened out once or twice. semi nauseous feeling...it was from non vacuumed winterized bho. I also got that same feeling from a QWET run before vacuuming. I just feel it's not purged of ethanol fully. Hope the nauseous feeling goes away for you and you just get super ripped after you vacuum it. Thin out the oil as much as possible
 
FYI. those balls of hash I paid 1000$ for 4 oz for before xmas.. (there is only 1.5 oz left in the picture)

theyve been sitting for 6 months. slowly selling them, but the quality is low so its hard to move them. biggest waste of 1000$ ever.

the oil I made from that hash ball tastes like complete shit (like the hash but stronger)

one guy happened to like/love the hash, so I took the chance and gave him all 40 grams for cost (less than cost I think actually), 400$ so im glad to have gotten rid of it! now I can spend that 400$ on some real hash to play around with!

You can keep your hash in alcohol room temperature and then freez it under -20 minimum for 48 h.
Filter it.
If you do the process with heat you will get FECO.
