Build a light trap or light baffle that does not effect the performance of the unit.

a caulk gun and white silicone, 5 minutes to lay down a strip over the styro seam.
used to do it to keep neighbors from seeing the light on the outside at night, never gave shits about daylight coming from outdoors.

Or maybe they were being bombarded with cold air from an ac the whole grow. Could be many things but a light leak does not seem like one of the things it could be.

I put plants right against my window unit, (like within 6 inches). They do suffer some minor damage from the stiff breeze of the fan, and I get some good color...lol, but it doesn't seem to affect quality of the buds. I think most "light leak" theory is totally false, and small leaks have no effect on the grow imo.

Operating cost, life span and lower humidity I'd skip the window and pick up a mini split. I just mentioned it in another thread my 70 pint dehumidifier ran non stop with window units until i installed a mini and it rarely kicks on now. In a year I went through 3 window Ac's. They don't like the cold outdoor temps in cooler months. My first electric bill is down over 100 dollars too. 1200 installed

I purchased a 1000 btu portable AC unit that works great for my area but my problem is light emitting from the exhaust vent (in my window). I'm using the exhaust kit that came with the unit, it's white plastic and not the reflective type you would buy in a store. I have tried wrapping it in reflective sheets but I think the problem is the high intensity light coming through the ac unit from the room and passing thru the ducting. Is that svc even possible and what's a good, frugal resolution?
