I wanted to try the 730nm flower initiator but did not fancy handing over $160 plus shipping to Europe.
Judging by the posts I have read here on RIU a little infrared goes a long way. My intention is to follow what others have done here and use it just after lights out. The grow space is 1.5m x 1m (about 16sqft)
So I mounted my trusty keyboard and rode hard for the Bay of E to visit my Chinese friends. As I expected my Asian compadres had on offer everything I would need.(see photos)
Photo #1 is a 20w infrared PCB

Photo #2 is a 20w LED floodlight

Photo # 3 is the label on the Floodlight informing me it is suitable for front or back TARDS (sic)

Photo # 4 The driver housing note the loose ground wire (this gave me the health & safety sad face)

I Grounded the fixture case and drilled some vent holes

Desoldered the leads

The 730nm chip lined up perfectly with original screw holes, Bonus!

A bit of bad soldering and I am all done.

Total project cost was $35 and a half hour of my time.
Cheers,
Will
