Will this work to help Temp instead of buying AC unit? Will +rep

Thanks for taking the time to read this and possibly help me out.

Im a closet grower, and I have a tent on the way which will be going inside the closet.

Right now with the the door closed to my closet and all CFLs running, the room can get up to 100degrees, so im sure it would get a little more hot inside of a tent.

The room/closet I am using is at the opp. end of the house than the AC unit so it gets the least amount of cold air. Normally this room is always 10degrees hotter than the rest of the house (just the room alone, not the closet). While the bathroom and hallway right outside the room stay at around 70-75ish, this room is normally in the 80's and the closet is worse.

Anyway, Im trying to avoid buying an AC unit to get running, and really didnt want to cut any of the walls, but its going to be my only option.

I had in mind that I could maybe cut a small area above the shower in the bathroom and add a vent between my closet and bathroom, so all the cold air in the bathroom (bathroom has its own vent) will also be able to travel to the closet.

I would of course have my intake fan hooked to the other side of the vent to drawl in the air from the bathroom.

Ive made a little graph with dimentions and such to give you a better idea of what Im talking about.

Thanks in advance for any and all help! Will surely +rep all who contribute.

One more thing.. Can you use an intake fan for exhaust?

if you turn an intake fan around, voila, its now exhausting. as long as airflow is achieved that may work, but do you really want a hole from ur closet into ur shower? ppl mightn tihnk it kinda wierd lol.

I knew I could turn it around. Just thought I had seen something about not using an intake fan for exhaust.

As for the whole. Im kind of hoping I can just add a vent like the one below (that is above the bedroom door) and no one would notice it above the shower lol

if you dont have and exhaust fan you need one. it will help a lot. i had lots of heat issues too before i got mine in. i only had one ac in my house too, a 5k btu window unit in the room adjascent to my closet garden. the rest of the house suffered my living room was like 80 normally. and even with the ac in the room beside it my temps were too high. the fan kept my room cool though.

you can get a portable ac unit that will just sit in the floor and i suppose you still have to exhaust that somewhere. i dont know how much they are though. ive seen em in action. they will work

lol didnt realize this was your thread.

hi, sounds like a great idea , only thing u gotta watch is that it doesnt draw to much humid air through while ur flowering, that could start mold wich u deffo dont want my friend, ur plants will tollarate temps up to 85ish maybe 90. 100' is going to give u problems.

the fan to draw air from bathroom sounds like a good way to start, its all trial and error m8. i think thatl work just fine for u, i remember when i first started out and had the same problem, i also made a fresh air intake from the attick wich changed it altogether , only thing is tho have ur intake at the bottom of ur grow and ur outake at the top the oposite side from ur intake, ok m8, good luck and happy growing. I would recommend you go up into your attic space and tie in to your existing CH/AC ducting.
It won't take much more then a small Y adapter, a piece of Flexduct and duct tape.
Your gonna need an exhaust as well. Just use your intake design as your exhaust.
Don't forget that exhaust is more important then Intake.
Good Luck!

Well Im in a mobile home right now so there really isnt an attic. There is some ducts running above the ceiling but most run in the crawl area. I could I could TRYYY to go under and see if I can cut through the floor to add a vent and then run duct work up to it, but most mobile homes have pretty solid floors. I planned to cut a small hole in the celing tho to vent in the attic, and be sure top buy a bathroom style ceiling fan incase I ever needed to hide the duct, I could put the fan up where the hole is.

Cutting in thru the floor and adding duct tho sounds like itll be pretty rough and prob wont be able to happen. Ill have to see.

close the vents in other rooms. pushes more air in to that room. add some fans pushing around the room

idk y ur trying to vent and cut holes in the first place if ur not wanting to to begin with, add co2 to ur tent that will help with high temps, it gives the plants air to breath and no cutting up walls

I tried that, it really doesnt help much, its almost as if the air warms up a bit by the time it gets to this very far end of the house lol

Well I really dont have much of an option because it gets so damn hot in that closet, once tent is up, its gunna go up another 10degrees probably. Also dont think Id have the money to get a co2 setup.

LMAO yeast and water and i think sugar, it will supply you with all the co2 you will need, you can make some nifty little DIY ones for CCCCHHHHEEEEAAAAAPPPPPP. you should look more into it if u not wanting tubes and holes runnin all thru out ur house and shit. doesnt mater what temps ur at, even if ur at 110, just so long as u have some co2 in ur op then ur plants will THRIVE! fareal man, look into it

I had seen that post about a week ago. Seems alright, but would that alone help my high temps? I Would still need place for intake/exhaust also. :/

buy some fans, put the vent in, put a large square fan blowing into your room from the closet, open your window, and open the door down the hall. open all the windows and create as much wind as possible. and don't bother with that nasty sugary yeast co2 crap. I did it, its pretty worthelss might as well just exchange the air in the room, it would probably work better.

do you not have ANY ventilation goin on in ur closet man? thats not good, get a fan blowin in ur closet, get another fan above the door sucking the air out of the closet, this will help out alot too, air movement is KEY for growing, exchanging the air is very good for ur plants, they will breath in all that carbon dioxcide and exhaul the oxygen. if the air is stale then ur plants are probably sufficating.

My closet is closed off like Fort Knox. No vents or anything going in there, except the fact the door is about 2.5inches off the ground.

Reason I had planned on cutting holes thru wall/ceiling. One to intake air from bathroom, ceiling hole to exhaust air into.

ya, you need to vent ur shit man, thats why ur temps are so high, do what ya gotta do, just make sure you can patch the hole back if need be it

you just might have to worry about humidity since all that steam and hot air from the shower will be sucked directly into your grow room and when flowering that could be real bad

I beg to differ it puts out a considerable amount of Co2 when done in a 2-liter bottle
