Comin along well. I've never had an issue with root growth in bp. Everything ur plant needs is in that water ur feeding right up to the cube, including DO. U may have overwatering in dirt grows, as I'm sure u know, and wanna let the dirt dry up. But I have a hard time believing it could happen in BP or DWC, unless of course, somethin else is wrong with ur system. ( I.E. High res temps= less DO in water) let me pose a question, in DWC, do the Roots stop growing when they hit the water? Mine don't. Quite the opposie, they blow up! Why would it be any different here.

last sunday at 10:00 am the first plant showed its green parts to me, and today I started nutrients at about that same time. I had 3 widows not pop up for me so I swaped them out with 3 geddons that were far enough along to start nutes. I've got the geddons marked and they will go back in their own tub with the rest of their sisters later, but for now I have only one of the tubs going with nutes, I will probably start the other tub on nutes within a day or so. I am also doing the same test with the geddons as I already am with the widows...test being two same sized sprouts--one with feeder tube and one without feeder tube. I am continuing on with this journey with 4 empty seats that will not be filled anytime soon, I'm going to try a little experiment with those later (sticking in some cuttings during 12/12), I will be switching to 12/12 on jan. 1st, which will give my last sprouted plant 2 weeks of veg and my first sprouted plants almost 3 weeks of veg...now heres the pics

The test is one plant with feeder tube and one without... The first picture was taken 5 days ago when this test started, the second pic was taken today..in both pictures the plant on the left is the plant without the feeder tube and the plant on the right is the plant with the feeder tube. I did not get these plants mixed up I just moved them into the center two slots for easier comparison pictures. Obviously the plant on the right is showing more growth than the plant on the left.....but I will say I notice a bit different of a root structure, my camera sucks so you cant really see it to well so I didnt even post the picture but I will say that the plant without the feeder tube seems to have much more side branching roots that are shorter where as the plant with the feeder tube appears to have less roots but the fewroots it does have are touching the water. I dont have my mind made up yet with this test as In the coming week those extra side roots on the plant with no feed could take off and if they do it could make up for lost time easily I think.

I dont know what my water temps are but I have a feeling its a bit too warm....I've been looking for a cheap digital thermo like one of those that has the wire I can just feed down into the water...could I just use a regular freezer thermo for this?

well I replaced my water today in both tubs and bumped up the widows to the "mild" setting on the nutes and 1/4strength for the geddons as they are not as far along. my water temps were running 78* at first but I got it back down to 71 with the replenish... I'll have more pics when they are two weeks old

You should have started off at 1/4 strength as soon as they sprouted...
I would up the nutes to half strength in the next few days.... or yesterday haha

Until u get a digital thermometer u can get a floating fish tank thermomoter from walmart. Its got a nice little suction cup so u can stick it to the side too!

Also for as for your experiment. I think u should hook up the feeder tube so those nice new roots can get some nutrients and that can stimulate the growth of your plants. It makes sense to me, The main goal is to get those nutrients in the plant so now that the plant has some nice new straws shouldn't u fill its cup up?

The roots are growing into the rez with airstones bubbling
The plants without the feeder tubes are still getting the same amount of nutes as the ones with feeder tubes
The roots are sitting in the nute mix, they have an unlimited supply
