i live at home with my parents who strongly hate my favorite past time....cannabis. i can't grow at home (just get them ready hidden in the backyard). i have to guerilla grow but i won't be able to check on them everyday. 3 times a week at max. if i buried a milkjug full of water with holes in it next to my plants will it slowly water it over time?

I would do something slightly different, it's going to require a few supplies.

Milk jugs or plastic bottles.
Silicone
Aquarium air tubing
Aquarium air valves

Poke or drill a hole at the bottom of the jug, just big enough to silicone in the valves. Let it dry at least 24 hours. Fill, set your drip rate, and let her go. :)

Thats a great Idea... I'd also paint the jugs so they are camo like ... Rep to you seamaiden.. two thumbs up

Or if you're going 3 times a week you could just give them water yourself. Planting near a water source would solve that problem. And remember, you're outdoors so there will be rain ;)

Yep, just direct that water flow (drip) where you want it. I wouldn't let it just touch the ground, because being aquarium airline tubing it's pretty narrow and might get clogged up with dirt.

Then I would daisy chain the containers, put one above the other, let it drip into that container. Or, go with something larger than milk or soda bottles (I'm all about cheap to free, ya know?). Maybe something like a cheap 5gal bucket would work better for you.

This is how recently arrived fishes are acclimated before being put either on store display or into warehouse holding tanks. The fish go into pans (often kitty litter pans), we set up the container with the shop water, set the drip anywhere from just a few drops an hour (a little tougher to regulate) to a steady stream. One drop per second is my personal preference for fish acclimation.
