Will this design work as a DIY Carbon filter for a PC Grow?

Hey all,

I've been slowly puttin a pc box together for my tiny grow. But coming unstuck on the CF design. I've knocked together a diagram of what I'm considering, and wondered if I could get any advice or feedback. Buying a proper CF really isn't an option atm, maybe later down the road. But I just need to know if this kinda airflow will work in reality. The yellow dotted lines are basically a copy of the Sugar Bear Micro Carbon Filter. But I was hoping the added airtight cylinder with two fans pulling extra air out might make the cheap pc fans a bit more worthwhile.

Anyway, feedback please, positive or negative.

just a 120mm pc fan.. pry cost me like 15 bucks.. worked great could always use 2 120mm fans and 2 exhaust filters to keep temps cooler.. temps ran a little hot but was manageable with 1 fan.. i mounted the filters on the outside of dresser on the back side and stacked boxes/storage ontop to cover the top of dresser

you will need to wire an ac adaptor to fan inorder to plug into a standard outlet.. do a little research to match the Milliamps correctly..

u only need one fan either pushing or pulling through the carbon.. i mentioned if his grow is to hot to run 2 120mm fans and 2 pen cup filters out the back end.. 2 seperate exhausts not connected.. that picture he posted is bogus..

Why's my pic bogus? I'm not sure what you mean by that.
As it is, it's a tiny box, so there's not room for two exhausts. That's why I'm going with just the one.

Yeh man, I'd not thought of that tbh, lookin at the sizes, the can would fit another 120 in there nicely. The trouble is I'm trying to work with resources at hand, and I've got a bunch of 80mm fans lyin around so was tryina utilise them. But I like the idea of scrapping the side vent and putting a matching 120 on the end of it. Therefore one pushing air thru the carbon, the other sucking it back out the other end.

I see loadsa these diy filters floating around, but very few mentions of what sorta cfm these fans need to be using. I've seen a few online knocking out around 75 - 90cfm, is that good?

Thanks for the input so far. It's rough when the blindingly obvious hides from ya.

Mewk you really are worrying too much about this bro.

My Carbon filter is just a single shitty 80mm pc fan, wired up to a mobile phone charger, pulling through a screen of activated carbon. I literally made a box shape out of cardboard and a cut up sieve, filled it with aquarium charcoal, and taped it to my fan. It works fine for wayyy more than you are doing.

Weed seriously does not smell THAT much unless you are growing monster buds. Looks like youre designing a nuclear submarine in that pic. You'd be better off spending your time doing some plant biology than worrying yourself enough to build a multi chamber multi fan carbon filter for your PC GROW. come on man.

its bogus because i dont know who came up with that diagram but theres no way in hell u need 3 fans for your filter lmfao at the picture.. 120mm pc fan pushing through pen cup style filter is all you need period for a small grow like that.. not fan pushing through filter with 2 fans hooked up to filter pulling air out as well like in picture

Okay, fair enough. I came up with the diagram m'self, but consider it a case of too much time on my hands waitin to get started. I appreciate the help you've both put into getting me back into things. Sorry to be such a pain about it. It's been forever since I last grew, and was just tryina make sure all was gravy, whilst finding endless conflicting info online.

Never used carbon before, so didn't really get the how-to's on it all, and the missus is a bit para about it, so just tryina play super safe for her benefit... But I understand I've gone a little OTT.

Din't mean to waste time. No offence taken.

hay dude.!
don,t you think that this is a big size of PC and 3 PC fans is not better for Your PC?
i think it will use more power and do your PC slow. you just use 120mm PC fan only. it will surely help to your PC cool.
Thanks.
