Will these lights work

Well as you can tell I am very new at this. Right now i am starting under 4, 4' grow flouros. DOnt have alot of cash to spend on high end lights. wish I did. I am a week into it. I have these lights at work that i can use and nobody would ever know they were missing. Will these get me what i am looking for?

uhhh, i dont think so. even if the light bulb was right, it would be too far away from the plant.

go to hardware store, buy a few CFL lights ( compact flouresent light). you know the spiral bulbs....they cost around $8. and for better use, also buy a reflector sheild, or a work light, its a metal dome, that u screw the light into, and it shines all the light downward. you can set up you whole grow, and only spend around $25....if u do it my way

Well the lights can be adjusted to face pretty much anywhere and they can be faced downward. I can get them close enough, but what kind of bulb must it have?

don't use grow bulbs. use bright white. i veg all my plants and mothers under shop lights. but you need bright white bulbs. not plant bulbs, not warm, not cool, you can get away with white, but the best is bright white. these should all be available at your hardware store.

OK well how is this then. I have 2 4' shop lights. If I get 4 of the t5, 2 cool, and 2 warm lights and use them, can I use the metal halides then switch back to the flouros?

those lights are just too much money, you could actually grow something with them but you would have to rip the stands off them, so you can hang them above the plant.

if u got a 1000 bucks get a 400w metal halide with ballast n reflector, a 600w high pressure sodium with ballast n reflector and you will still be under budget the fluoros personally i think are not that great. The only thing i would consider using fluros or cfs for are clones. If ya got the cash buy the best and you will get the best, providing you use them correctly

It might just get you placed in jail, use your paycheck from your job, that your employer was nice enough to give you, and buy a real light.

Grow lights get too hot. If you just barely touch a leaf to it, it's burnt. I use 40w cfls from sprout to veg to flower. They work fine.
