i am growing ak48 under a 400w hps, watered by e&f, and co2 enriched. i began flowering on july 10 when there were dozens of pistils sprouting. so today is day 40 of flowering. i want to flush tonite and mature for 10 days feeding molasses when the pot is dry. will this be good smoke? very sticky and stinky

it really all depends on what you want out of it. Do you want more of a THC count then let them ripen more, which will give you more of a head buzz. You could get a hand held magnifying glass and look at the the trichomes and if most of them are milky looking then its time to chop them down or you could just go by the old method of if 80% of them are turning color then time to chop. The last two weeks of mollasses in my opinion is to late. You really want to start flushing them at this time to get out all the nutes and let them plant feed off itself.

i use a jewelers loupe. the easiest to use is a 30x cost about 15 bucks, if you cant find that, go to radioshack, they sell 100x mini microscopes. pain in the ass but it will work. clear to milky is thc, brown is cbds. also remember that as they cure they will slightly mature. i wait until there slightly cloudy, after a month of curing they have a slight amber color.

"CBDs" such as Cannabidiol has nothing to do with the color of the trichromes.
Yes and no, for the most part its determined by genetics, for example White Rhino would have more cbd with full white trichome heads than say Silver Haze, but they both would have a higher level of cbds with more amber heads than they would have with all white ones.

Guy its all actually more a art form than a science when it comes to peak maturation. This goes for all gardening as there is no scientific method unless you have some really expensive equipment that could take readings such as a electrnic microscope. Other than that you have to develop a way and that comes from experience with it.

wow. thanks for the feedback guys. i really appreciate it.

i have no money so i cant afford ANYTHING-lol... not until i harvest and dry anyways. i guess my question was a little redundant b/c i kinda already knew about trichome coloration. as stated above i cant afford a microscope so i was trying to get a visual confirmation... but this is difficult cuz nobody knows what the trichs look like.

more and more pistils turn orange everyday-at about 25%-and she is expanding quite a bit. i'm not afraid of going too long. only harvesting too early. i like the uplifting cerebral high from clear trichomes. however this is a cash-crop and only a small amount will be used for personal so i would rather add weight.

one guy said 10 days may be overkill. if i flush tonight and remove ak48 from the flood tray should i wait until the pistils are all orange, 50%, or what?

once again, i know these physical descriptions i'm asking about go against what i'm being told about trichs-i've read somewhere here that "the overall look of the plant" is what u go by. an amber-goldish sheen and all calyxes are bulging.
