yo pplz,

iv had my plants under a 60watt fluorescent for about 2 and a half weeks and they got really stretched compared to other photos i see of young plants. i got a 600watt hps 3 days ago and the plants already seem to be responding better. will my plants be ok even with their longer stem? will it support the plant when it grows more leaves???

please help meeee!

Put an oscillating fan on high, 24/7, this will help strengthen your plants. Keep the HPS as close as 20 inches from the top of your plants. Don't over water and don't use any nutes until they fully recover. You should be totally fine. Also, use sticks like bamboo chop sticks to keep plants from falling over.

Repot/replant them deeper, bury most of the long stem. New roots will shoot out from the buried stem so your root system will be bigger and stronger sooner and you don’t have to worry about them bending over or staking them up. For vegging a metal halide would have been better but an HPS will work too. It just has a different light spectrum that is better for flowering and the MH is better for vegging.

I thought its bad to gunk up the stem above the root too high with soil in this type of scenario because that can cause root rot if you bury the stem, maybe Im wrong?
