will magnetic ballasts handle a generator??

I want to run 2 1000 watt lights with my generator that I don't think has a inverter. will this work or do I need a different generator?

yes and no

yes u can do it with the correct gear to controll the power going to them
no u can not just tie it directly in u need to have a controller unit to keep the powers lvls from spiking or dropping

oh u could buy a gen with the controller already built in (they say they are desigend with work with electronics ) those gens are safe to use just plugging in but the ones that are cheap work site ones no u need the controller

Magnetic ballasts will work on your genset.

Its some of the digital ballasts that won't like a small generator.

I use a larger 4-pole 25kW generac with autonatic transfer. Runs the whole house off natural gas. I use off delay timer in my controller to allow bulbs to cool before restrike off generator power.
