Will I be doing this correctly?

Hey folks, getting ready to harvest any day now. Trichs are turning cloudy with a few amber and a few clear. I check the trichs twice a day now, lights on and right before lights off. I plan on chopping them and leaving the sugar leaves (only cutting the big fan leaves off), until the buds are dry and ready for cure. My question is, when do I trim the sugar leaves off? Before I jar them or after they have cured for a while?:eyesmoke:

Is there any reason you want to leave the sugar leaves on while drying? My personal preference is to trim it all the way down to the bud before hanging to dry. It becomes a lot more labour intensive to trim after they have dried. Some people just leave the sugar leaves on completely, gives your buds more of a "natural" taste I guess.

Its a matter of preference, but I will say, leaving the sugar leaves on in a dryer climate will let the bud dry slower, which is usually good, because from my experience bud that dries too fast may not taste right and also may be pretty harsh on the lungs.

If you want trimming to be easier do it when their still fresh, cutting dry leaves makes them fly everywhere and leaves a mess. And we all know stoners are lazy about cleaning. lol

I'm a newbie, got the growing down, just need help with the harvest. I have two plants that will be coming down. Guess I'll trim one completely, and one after drying. I do live in a very dry climate so I'm just gonna try and see what works better.

This is another age old question and I think it comes down to what you are doing with your buds, personally. If you are just growing for yourself and bag appeal isn't the major concern I would leave most of the smaller leaves on the bud. I say this because while curing your buds in their jars and turning them daily, or shaking the jar around to ensure the nugs get a little air exposure you can damage lots of your trichs. Keeping the small sugar leaves on protects your buds from damage during handling and storage. Now if you are selling these I would trim closely for better bag appeal depending on your clients taste and education on weed.
Of course just my opinion
