if you DIW a reflector with a glass shield does it have to be high heat glass or whatever? or would just some normal glass not crack if its under a 400watter (im gunna air cool it as well)

boy! what a can of worms!

Glass is 1/8 Inch?
How far away from the bulb?
Above or below bulb?
Bulb temp?
Room temp?
Room RH?
What type of glass? (sodalime, quartz, silicone, etc?)
Glass finishing? (tempered? laminated? etc?)

If its not tempered (and you know that for a fact) cut a piece off thats about 2inch by 5 inch and see how close you can get it to the bulb before it has a reaction (give it time to react: hours/days)

Cutting glass is actually pretty easy. Even curves.

I don't use a reflector - many people say you get a better result. The reflector is so you don't get bulb burn via water mist etc...

Your bulb will blow if you get it wet while hot via spray bottle.
Well,,, Duh,,,,You shouldn't even touch the bulb with your bare hands. The oil on your fingers can cause a hot spot which will cause the glass envelope to fail. HID bulbs are all prone to this, some more than others. It depends on the surface temp.of the glass. Be careful out there!:weed::weed:

Definetly, in fact, THANK YOU for linking that. I will now be using that since that's the kind of reflector I have.

well sky i been runnin it for a while now with no problems, just had ace hardware cut some window glass to size, cost like 7 bucks i think

Yeah, Home Depot and Lowes didn't have it. I found 9'' x 14'' Tempered for $18 at a local glass shop. Able to withstand 450 Degrees F.
