Will DIY cooltube work with 400W?

yes they should work. ive made 2 of them so far and will be putting them in action in a week or two.
ive seen cooltubes sold in stores and ebay for 400 watt hps and larger wattage bulbs.
i did some minor modifications to the second one i built.

no i made it a little different i think. only read that diy in the growfaq once, then just built mine.the wires are what im using to pull the 2 plastic ends together and hold the glass in. the wire is stainless steel wire that i use to make fishing lures with. and i tighten them with a turnbuckel. i can use the coolube either horizontal or vertical.
the wires from the socket will go through a hole that i drilled in the end cap and still leave enough for the hose to fit on. those ends are plastic 4" to 3" reducer. the glass fits inside the 4" and the 4" hose will fit over the 3" end.
i also have a link in my sig. on making magnetic ballasted lights remote. check it out.

what did you use to hold the increaser decreaser to the glass? what kind of adhesive did you use? super glue?

i used some gasket material that i wrapped around the outside edge of the bake a round and held the ends of the gasket together with little pieces of that metal silver duct tape. then i used thin stainless wire connected to a turnbuckel. there are 2 of those. then just tighten on the turnbukels until the ends are pull tight against the glass. i also cut the end of the 2 plastic ends so they would cover less glass.
i will either make a better design next year or will buy a couple and save these for spares. i didnt do a tutorial on these and put in my thread because i may not be happy with these. they will work for now though.
