Will CFL COST MORE in the long run?

I just got a clone today from a friend. My Lights are set up.
I went with 8 26Watt CFL at Daylight 6500K spectrum(12,800Lumens in 3sq.ft./4ft tall) for vegitation and I have some 42Watt CFL 2700K for Budding. I only have the one plant so I'm using less light. I can use my extras for a future from seed grow.

My Clone.. it's in a 12 or 16oz cup with some potting soil/perlite mix from Wal-Mart (where I'm about to go to get more stuff) and I put in some nute/water as I put it in the soil. I then covered it in a air filled plastic bag to seal in humidity. I have my lights set to 18 on/ 6 off.

Am I starting off in the right track?

I'm gunna start a grow journal tomorrow!! HELP will be appreciated since it's my first grow!!!

Oh yeah i forgot i was talking to the guy at my hydro store and we were talking about the 2 diffrent lights i was looking at the CFL and the HPS and he was saying that the HPS bulb costs 8 bucks and the CFL costs 80...So it really comes down to heat and the space you have....How big is this box....U really should go to Home Depot and get some wood and some nails and make the same size box....This way you know it won't burn down and you can use it over and over again untill you decide to upgrade....It really isn't that hard to build....

I dont think its going to reach over 451F(the temp paper catches fire) with the CFLs I have in my box. Especially when I have an Intake and Outtake fan.

I hope to have a real box for my next grow. I plan to make it a replica maybe a little wider. full 2 ft wide probable. YAY Cheap Plywood!

I'll have pics of my this first grow of mine that has just gotten under way tomorrow in my Journal.

CHECK IT OUT AND HELP ME OUT

the cfl vs hid debate has been beat to death many times. if yor only planning on doing 1 grow, in which you just toss everything when your done cfls might be cheaper. but if your like most of us and grow as a past time get a real light; its by faaar worth the investment.

It costs more to run HID's bro.. Buy your CFL's at Home Depot they have a 9 year replacement warranty on them so when they go out just exchange them and then the new ones you get have the 9 years on them too it's like buy the shit once and get them free for life!! I have 252w of CFL's going and I would wrather have these in my cab that 1 250w HPS because I have more points of light and I've seen what a friend gets with a 250 HPS and it's not any better than what I get and my quality is better with the same strain and nutes and soil! and temps for that matter because of the Infa red radiation thats put out by HID's that burns the tops of the plant also if one of my bulbs goes out I lose just a little bit of light but the rest of my ladies are still getting light but if my 1 HPS goes out I have to go to a grow shop and pay $20-$30 to replace it every time.....

I am using 12x 23w 2700k bulbs to flower 3 plants and all seems well. I do plan to add a 150 hps next grow to make my buds a bit tighter. Check out this link for a cheap light. It will need a bit of modification but I can give you a link for that too.

Look in the vapor sealed units to the right. You can get a 150w Hps with ballast for $20 to add to cfl's for a small grow I thhink that is plenty.

Here is a look at what I'm getting with CFL only!

Oh Wow. I'd be happy with those results. I can't use an HPS right now, it gets too hot with just 8 26watt cfl in my box. There's only room for one maybe 2 plants, only doing one right now.

I'll probably go get an Oscillating Fan though, a tiny 5 inch to aim up in my box. Help push that extra heat oput my wire holes in the top.

I hope I get something you. Looks real good man. I'd give you some rep if I knew how. haha
